The man you should be looking at to fill the basketball coach is an Iowa native who is now at Weber State, Randy Rahe. He has recruited all over the country and outside of the country. If you are thinking of Keno Davis than Randy Rahe should also be considered. He has much coaching experience.
My wife thinks Lute is the man for the job. Get him for two years...he would bring the fans back, get the players excited and do an overall rebuild for Iowa.
