Iowa Bud Light Edition Cans

How much does Iowa get paid for this? Or just free advertising which would end up raising our profile and indirectly bringing in $?

I thought these were Iowa Bud Light cans from a few years back?

I actually think the Iowa can looks like shit. The black/gold doesn't mix well with the blue. They shoulda just done the whole can in black/gold like they did back in the day.

That being said, the blue will hide behind a koozie pretty nicely and I'll still buy these anyway because I'm a schill.

Not sure what version they'll sell down here, but I am back on Budweiser and Bud Light. Coors went union after the deal with Miller several years ago. And I'm done drinking microbrews. Those dudes have just gone too far. Back to the basics. Biggest thing is that bince Bud Light ran that Super Bowl commercial about Coors Light and Miller Lite being made with corn syrup, they planted some placebo seed in my head and I get headaches now when I drink too much Coors or Miller. Funny thing is Busch Light is also made with corn syrup.

Thats funny. I hear ya on microbrews though. I've found a few select ones I really love and mostly just stay on that path. There are a LOT of crap micros out there. I keep saying the brewery bubble is going to pop, but so far it shows no signs of weakening...I swear every month a new brewery pops up somewhere in the Twin Cities.

It's IPA nerds doing it.

Fat 32 year old dudes with 3 kids and no hobbies who hate hops flavor, but since it's en vogue to "like" shitty tasting bitter liquid they buy the stuff by the barrel full every time some little brewery adds a little artificial pumpkin/jalapeno/etc flavoring to a new batch. :)

It's the same as cookie monster metal. Nobody in existence actually likes Lamb of God, but it's a nice little fake hobby for people who don't golf or collect stamps to tell all their friends about.

Nah, it will pop. The most popular local guys will survive and the monstrous companies with strong national distribution like Bell's, DogFish Head, Stone, etc. will be fine, but there are way too many breweries out there to have a long term sustainable business. My cousin got married in a nice brewery in St. Paul and the bartender said they went through more Busch Light and Bud Light than any other beer (we drank the place out of Busch Light despite them ordering extra for the event). Dude said he had never seen anything like it. That's what happens when you got a bunch of country folk from Humboldt County and Webster County in the house.

My brain just melted from the Lamb of God reference.

I like a few hoppy beers, but I know what you mean. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA is one of my favorite go-to's....its actually one of the highest rated beers on beeradvocate...for whatever that's worth.

I have like 5 different beers I keep stocked in my fridge, 2 of which are IPA's. I try not to venture too far from those though since there's a LOT of crap out there.

I like some IPAs, like Two Hearted Ale and 90 minute ale from Dogfish Head, but there are so many local places that are trying to "distinguish" their IPAs and 90% of them taste like pure crap. I drank a ton of IPAs from prolly 2007 until 2017 or so, but now I ain't a big fan. They have way too much sugar and if I get drunk off them now, I wake up at 3 AM with a pounding headache without fail.

We had a cookout a few weeks ago and I showed up with a case of Bud Light cans and a 12 pack of Bud diesel bottles iced way the hell down. Everyone else had a bunch of microbrew crap. It was probably 90 or 92 outside and we were just chilling in the shade. I told these dudes that ice cold Bud and Bud Light are just absolutely superior in the heat and they scoffed a bit. Somehow, when we went to bounce, my cooler was down to 0 Buds and 3 Bud Lights when I left and a bunch of the microbrew crap was still there. One of the dudes was like "man, I haven't had a Bud Light in years but if you get it real cold, it is damned good on a hot day" and ended up sending his old lady on a b double e double r - u - n to get another case of Bud Light during the festivities.

Fact is, Budweiser is about the only damned product you can buy today where it tastes exactly the same as it did 20 years ago and they haven't shrank the portion size. The consistency with which they can churn it is remarkable and the neckbeards that run the breweries can scoff about it, but none of those guys can consistently make a good lager. I love sitting outside in the summer and nothing most microbreweries churn out is a good summer beer.
