Iowa BB: Number of Wins This Year?

I know it is way too early to do this, but I'm excited about Iowa BB. I purchased season tickets for the first time in a long time. I looked at the schedule and it really seems like there a large number of winnable games:

1. Non-conference schedule: 13 games; tough games at ISU, at UNI, Clemson, at Creighton (Des Moines).

I really think we have a realistic shot at going 10-3 in the non-conference.

2. Conference: 18 games, but with 2 games against Nebby (as bad in BB as they are good in FB).

Total record: 17-14 before BIG tournament.

I think we make a post-season tournament this year (but not the NCAA).

This all assumes that all players are on board academically and are basically injury free (no one misses a meaningful number of games). This of course is a big IF.

Game by game breakdown (for what it is worth):
1. NW Mo St Exhibition - doesn't count
2. Chicago St W
3. NC A&T W
4. N ILL W
5. Creighton (DM) Toss up
6. Campbell W
7.IPFW W
8. Clemson Toss Up
9. Brown W
10. at UNI Toss Up
11. at Clones L
12.Drake W
13. Central Ark W
14.Boise St W
15. Purdue L
16. @Wisky L
17.@MN L
18.Ohio St L
19. @MSU L
20.Michigan Toss Up
21. @ Purdue L
22.Nebby W
23.@ Indiana Toss Up
24. MN Toss Up
25.Penn St W (they will suck)
26.Indiana W (just lost their best player to achilles)
27.Wisky L
28.@ILL L
29.@ Nebby W
30. NW W
31.@NW L
32@ Penn St W

I count 9 Ws in the non-conference, 6 Ws in the conference, and 6 toss ups. If we win 40% of the toss-ups, we finish with 17 Ws.

My math is awful. I left off @NW and @ Penn St. I think we split those 2 games. I still sticking with 17-14. It certainly is a manageable, advantageous schedule in many ways. I think we have an excellent shot at a winning season, which would be a big deal for Coach Fran

I will let all of the Black and Gold crack smokers have their say then I'll tell you where reality is. I see a 20-9 already, a 20-11, that must be some good rock! 20 wins! Ha!

16 probably

Ghost knows what the deal is.

I have 17-14 as well. Wasn't Nebraska pretty decent last year? I thought they had improved the past couple of years. Anyway, I gave us a win at home against them and a loss on the road. It's very difficult to win conference games on the road no matter how bad a team is. Just ask Purdue and OSU about Iowa the past few years. I do have us beating PSU both games.

Exactly. They have been pretty tough at home vs some really good teams, KSU/KU.

Doesn't surprise me if you go there in football and pound them (they aren't that great) and lose in basketball.

Guaranteed Win
Probable wins
Probably losses

I see us winning the Purdue game @ home because PU is coming off eight days rest...legs aren't going to be there AND its our Big10 home opener. Crowd will be at capacity and the place will be rocking. We then head to Wisky on a supercharged high. It will be their B10 home opener but they just got finished knocking Nebby around and will be looking ahead to their MSU game. Then MN comes up after receiving a serious beatdown from Michigan. fOSU is fOSU and they will probably sweep the conference and doubtful to lose many games all season. @MSU is never easy so following those two losses we face a very good Michigan team followed up by Purdue. PU will be wanting revenge and no way we win that game @ their house. Fortunately we get a week long break to recover before slobberknocking Nebby and we will be riding a high with some easy games on the schedule.

9-7 in conference.

22-7 Best Case
19-10 Likely
17-12 Worst Case

I see us being on the bubble (as expected) for the NCAA. Probably missing it if we finish 6th or lower in conference and in if we finish 5th or higher in conference.

I just hope if we have a few hiccups the fans dont kill Fran. I cant even make a prediction because I dont want to set my hopes to high. However, I do believe with Fran that WE ARE BACK!!!

Based on what Fran has done at previous jobs 17 -19 wins would be about right. I know the B1G 10 is tougher but his win loss record from other schools jumped up.

Coach will have an exciting and entertaining product on the court. That is almost enough for me. Our players will be playing as a team, with confidence, energy, movement and they will be having fun. That says a lot. We had some of that in the latter half of last year, and the Hawkeyes can only say they have had that 2 or 3 time in the past 12 years!

Fran will have us in striking distance for the win in every game this year, with exception of maybe one or two games max. Tell me that isn't going to be kickas$!

I'm drinking some koolaid, but not that much I don't think. 17-21 games. I'll go with 19.5...
The beginning of the B1G will be a *****.
