Iowa Basketball Signs Josh Dix, Dasonte Bowen

For good reason, those were both 2 HUGE prospects that Iowa did not get at the time. It's only natural for there to be some sort of melt downs from the fan base on a message board. You calling out the "dumbies" is really unproductive and it gets tiring. You've been doing it for "years and years", what have you accomplished?

I for one appreciate the different perspectives, even some of those "dumbies". If you want a forum where everyone thinks everything is wonderful with sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns then this place isn't for you.
I view “tiring” is a term of endearment!!!! :)
I’ve always been here. Since the start of this site. Didn’t post at first. Never left, never quit, never been kicked off. Never been asked to tone it down, but I’m here for it. All of it. The wins, the losses. I’m here for the dummies and that’s what I’m here to do.To make dip shit’s tired. To use hindsight. To tell the guy who said Luka peaked as a sophomore to get bent. If that’s what I’ve accomplished , making them tired of being dumb- that’s what I set out to do, so mission accomplished.

Fran has made good decisions for this program. We now know that just any ole coach can’t do well at Iowa. It takes the right guy - Fran has done great recruiting on the east coast and for the most part kept the best in state talent home. Even when spurned by that talent, he still comes out on top….. it’s fun to point out. If that makes me tiring, good.

I don’t think it’s sunshine and lollipops with the Iowa basketball program. It hasn’t won nearly enough for me to be satisfied. But I also recognize it’s been pretty good for a while. As good as it’s been at Iowa sans a deep tourney run. I think that’s coming. I think a lot of that is luck and draw and I think Fran’s best teams are still in front of him.

That’s my opinion, I’ll own it when I’m wrong

I also have huge expectations for Iowa basketball- last year was a complete disappointment and let down. Not a firable offense, but yeah, also not great. Fran hasn’t proven he can take the next step but I think he’s the guy. I expect this program’s floor to be the NCAA. Not meeting that expectation will have me wanting someone else, even when you lose the NPOY and JW.

Congratulations on being here since the start, I'm one of the originals as Jon brought my user name over from back when he ran Scout.

You want to keep calling out petty shit then by all means go for it, I should know better than to think you'll improve as I've called you out for this bullshit before. It's a HUGE waste of time yet you think you've accomplished something. The next time Fran misses out on a top in-state recruit I guarantee there is going to be some grumbling and I'll probably be one of the "dumbies" complaining as I HATE seeing Iowa lose in-state recruits.

Yes Fran has done a lot for the basketball program, he resurrected a mess left by Lickliter but he has yet to come out on top. Iowa hasn't seen the top since Lute Olson unless you want to count some BTT championships won in the Alford years. Criticizing the coach is fair, he really hasn't won anything yet and criticizing the recruiting misses is also fair as it has happened. At the same time he also deserves credit for getting the program back competitive and finding the diamonds in the rough with the Murray twins, Nicholas Baer, Aaron White, and Gabe Olaseni. But you need the Tyler Cooks, the Joe Weiskamps, the Woodbury's, the Gessell's, and the rest of the top 100 recruits he's gotten in order to have any shot at reaching the top.

But I'm dropping this, you and ole Huck struck a nerve with me using the success of recent wins as an opportunity to bash those that have been critical. It's gone too far.

We can all agree, Fran is a good offensive coach, can recognize talent, and has not won a championship or made a run in the tourney. Along with a lot of other coaches in the league. Might not happen in my lifetime, but I don't know if we could do better for a coach, he's kinda grown on me, not wanting any change right now.

Called me on my bs lol…. whatever you think that’s there between us, it’s not. I don’t know you besides a few back and forths. I don’t know that I’ve ever addressed you personally. But I must have struck a nerve cause you think I’m calling you the dummy. I’m not, Having your opinion and giving your 2 cents on this program is exactly what I do as well. I didn’t call you out at all. I think it’s fair to judge things after they play out, a lot of people would rather paint a narrative before it happens. So far Fran is doing well despite what the outlook everyone couldn’t wait to watch play out actually happened. I think that’s fair for me to say, he’s proved a lot of people who think they know better than him, wrong. At least when it came to Foster, cause that’s when he got the Murray’s. Hindsight is great cause it’s based in truth. I didn’t mean to ruffle feathers, but if I did, mission accomplished. I do get a lot of my satisfaction on this site from that.

Of course I want the best instate talent to stay home, I also know that if they don’t we have a capable coach of making it work.

I had no intent to “bash” you or others for being critical. I did jab those who have downplayed Fran’s recruiting history. That is all. Believe it or not, it was all in fun. When I think a poster is being totally unfair, inaccurate, bashing players by name, I will speak my piece clearly. I have “liked” a lot more of your posts than being critical of them.

I didn’t take it as being directed at me. For some reason it struck a nerve and I’ve taken this way too far.
