swept perennial power, Indiana in a 3 game set, this weekend.

Hawkeye Women had an excellent year, before bowing out in Sweet 16.
Hawkeye Men had best Hoop season in what, a decade?
IOWA Wrestling was just terrible, finishing 2nd at Nationals. At any other school, that's great.

Time to reward the Athletics head man, it would seem.......

This is Merika dude. In Merika we only reward inept politicians.....important people like AD's have to produce, or they get freaking FIRED!!

If anything, the baseball program's success should serve as a lesson for what can happen when you fire a coach at Iowa. It doesn't have to end like the Tom Davis/Alford/Lickliter debacle. Maybe think about applying this lesson to football.
 
Getting way ahead of myself obviously but it would be awesome to watch Iowa play in the college world series. I head to Omaha almost every year to watch it and the environment is just amazing. Couldn't imagine actually watching a team I root for down there

Right there with ya. I'd be interested to see what kind of crowd Iowa would bring to Omaha.

Sun shines on a dog's azz every once-in-awhile.
 
All of these other sports are nice but until the money making sports starts producing positive results you don't award Barta anything. Besides didn't Iowa rank toward the bottom of the Big Ten in the overall standings between all sports? Besides wrestling when is the last time an Iowa team won the Big Ten in any sport?

They were in the cellar and couldn't even see the top of the standings from how far the gap was.

The improvement has been good in some sports. You are correct, they were so far down it would have been hard to see the middle of the pack from where Iowa was. Barta has taken a ton of flack for how the field hockey thing that is currently working its way through the legal system (I have no idea who is wrong/right there). But over the last several years, Iowa has been more proactive in moving out coaches who were not winning. The volleyball and baseball hires look to be very good. Fran has returned 2 straight NCAA appearances. A definite step up. He hired a good golf coach (Hankins) who then moved into administration. Hopefully the replacement is also good. Softball is struggling but remainder of this year and next will tell the story there.

Wrestling team was ranked #1 early on..Second is not bad but most avid (Iowa) wrestling fans were disappointed with second.
 
Heller is the guy we should have gotten in the first place, IMO. The UNI program was very solid under his watch. We'll see what happens once his teams rely more on players he recruits, but the improvements made by players he inherited have been impressive. If this team still had Jake Yacinich (1st team All-B1G shortstop last year and left early after getting drafted), I think they'd be the clear front-runner in the conference.
