Iowa at Nebraska Thursday!

Huge game in what could turn out to be a nice stretch for Iowa - but I am not banking on it. Nebraska has turned a corner - a win for Iowa there would be big. I will however be in the 4th row mid court... the only advantage of being a Hawk fan on the Southwest side of the state. When Nebraska joined I knew I would be going to see the Hawks a little more. How do ya'll think we match up with the Skers?

I am stunned by their recent upsets of Maryland and Indiana, both on the road! That is unreal.
I love watching this Hawkeye team play and can't wait to see them vs Nebraska.

Nebby isn't bad we'll have our work cut out for us. Young team on the road again so we'll just have to see. To say they didn't look so hot last time is an understatement so I'm not predicting anything here. Be awesome to win but I'm not expecting it.

Webster is a slasher/scorer averaging 17ppg

Watson is a quick score first PG averaging 13.9ppg. He also averages 2 steals so big test for Jordan

Morrow is a Chicago kid we recruited averaging 10/8 down low for them.

Outside of that not many shooters or scorers, but they are college players. If Iowa gives them wide open threes they can make them.

I can see Ellingson having a big game against Nebraska.

I was just going to say I think our bench can really be our advantage in this one. I'm not sure who it will be but I think one or two of our bench guys will probably do some damage.

I also think Jok needs to set the tone early so the younger guys gain some confidence in a road environment.

Iowa has a fighting chance as Nebraska is not a good 3 point shooting team.
Not sure where you get your information. Nebraska's leading 3 point shooter has missed the last few games with an injury and is struggling at under 30% (last year he shot 34%), but they have 2 shooters at 40% and another at 35%. I think they'll definitely test our 3 point defense.

I see this as a toss up. I could even see another OT. Or I could see Neb running us out of the gym.
In other words, anything could happen tonight.

Can't wait to watch. Should be a few TC throw downs.

I can't wait to go to this - I don't think Nebraska has the ability to run us out of the gym mostly because they are offensively challenged sans the last 2 games - they play pretty good D - big challenge for the Hawks tonight - I hope to be there with em celebrating their first B1G road win.

3p% doesn't tell the whole story. The amount of attempts is also a big factor. For instance Jok & Bohannon have made the same amount of 3s as their entire team, but they also attempt 3s more frequently.

Put it another way:
Neb averages 5.5 3PM per game
Iowa averages 9 3PM per game

With that said, I fully expect Nebraska to hit a bunch of 3s tonight.

Rebounding after missed 3s by NE will be huge in this game. I expect Iowa to play a lot of zone to try to take away their slashers and consequently give them some looks from 3. If the Hawks can make them 1 and done on misses, they will win. They have struggled with defensive rebounding in the zone. If they can get a few 1 and dines early, get out in transition and score, that will further help on the D boards.

I have to say I've not been his biggest fan from what he'd done last yr, but he's played pretty darn well when given time the last few games. It's always awesome to have a kid that can shoot like he can out there. Don't think he's missed a free throw yet this year. He sure as hell better be on the floor in late game situations where they need to foul us right away. And I don't mean as an inbounder either. He Jok and Bohannon need to be the 3 guys trying to get the ball in those spots. I'd probably have Baer inbounding it with Cook or Pemsl setting screens

Its kind of crazy that Nebraska goes into Indiana and Maryland and comes out a winner, and then returns home to face Iowa and is only a 2.5 favorite. Seems to suggest that Vegas still sees these two teams as even.

Iowa hasn't had an issue winning in Lincoln lately, hopefully that continues.
