well here it comes. the last game of the year. Its a long long off season and then zoom the season wraps up. If iowa is favored it won't be by much. Point spreads have not been published as yet

Iowa's scoring defense is the best in KF and Hayden Fry era. A perfect year to have this defense, given the offensive scoring production.

I am always hopeful that the hawks can come out and hit on all cylinders. That is why I get so pissed when they don't. The huskers don't seem to have mailed it in as teams like Rutgers and Maryland have. And it looked like NU was through a few weeks ago. They're playing harder now.

So what's the score prediction? How will Brian approach the Huskers' and will the running game get on track? Would Iowa simply be a pass first team for this game and use runing plays creative...rather than always going back to the inside zone/outside zone as filler.

Nebraska is gonna play Iowa tough, it's a rivalry game with a trophy on the line and a bowl bid for Nebraska. I thought they hung in with Wisconsin really well so the potential is there for them to pull off the upset. But it's gonna take more than 19 points on offense. I hated having that feeling when Iowa scored on their opening drive against Illinois that it was going to be their only touchdown on the day and, sure enough, it was. Iowa is gonna need more than a bunch of field goals to beat Nebraska on the road.

I'm hope it's windy and cold. Iowa is going to need to match the intensity that you know is coming. The concern is that Frost get's his guys jacked up and we come in flat and fall behind early. With our offense...that's a bad recipe.

If we come in and our defense is ready to play from the opening snap...I like our chances. The Illini had a better pass rush than Nebraska does and we kept them off Stanley most of the game. Nate has to make plays and we win.

An entirely revolutionized playbook will be revealed for the game. Iowa will score 5 TDs on offense, 2 on defense and settle for 2 FGs. 55-10, with the Nebraska TD coming in garbage time. Husker fans planning on a trip to somewhere fancy like Detroit will be left without such a trip.

I have watched some Nebby football this year and their defense is generally avg to poor against the run. As the games go on they seem to arm tackle and not want to stick their nose into the ball carrier. The hawks need to come in willing to pound them backwards and not so much side to side with outside zone, I say a nice mix and throw on any down.

If Nate is pretty much on target I think the hawks can score 30+ on them. Defensively I didnt like some of the edge play off and on yesterday containing the Illinois run game and their qb runs.

The hawk front seven needs to play their assignments and not try to win the game chasing fakes. Some pressure on Martinez and he is avg at passing

I hope we do not play a lot of cushion on their receivers.

I really thought Nebraska would be left for dead right about now. But, they are now playing for a bowl game. We will probably get Nebraska's best shot and they still remember last year.

Iowa is going to need to bring it. If they do, they win. If they don't, Nebraska has a chance.

Nebraska needing a win to qualify for a bowl. And they give Frost a two year extension on his contract. Bo Pelini is sitting in Youngstown saying, "WTF?!"

My phone says it will be raining with a high of a high of 45 on Friday, snow on Thursday.

If that weather report is true it could be tough for both teams to pass. Turnovers could be key.

Our trump card is our D, they will be motivated and ready to play.

No bowl game for Nebraska this year.

Does Pelini have a terrible reputation or something? I can't believe that some middling P5 program wouldn't bring him in as a coordinator. I mean, if Lovie had him at Illinois they probably would have actually scouted our passing attack and stopped our only TD on the first drive. You'd think someone like Arkansas or Mississippi or some trash program like that would be happy to have his brain as well.

and they still remember last year.

Nebby is still remembering last year. Well yeah but man I am sure they are still shell shocked from 2016 and 2017 which were major beat downs. And the hawks dancing all over them with two huge canzeri TD runs in 2015.

I wonder if they have a some players still left from their 2015 team.

Pelini alienated everybody. You only have to watch one of his press conferences to know that if he's like that in a public forum...you can only imagine what he's like behind the Red Curtain.

'Braska has no chance. None. 0. They might as well not even show up.

I give Iowa a 65%-35% edge here. Nebraska a punchers's chance if Iowa is playing like ass. I would give them a near zero a couple of weeks ago.

I think it will be close again.

Iowa 24
Nebraska 23

43°
Rain likely. High 43F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
This forecast helps immensely. Look for Robinson their stud frosh to return, kid is good. They also used back up QB/WR McCaffery in multiple ways, he can throw it catch it and run with it. Martinez is tough and we don't handle them well. The key to beating Lil Debbie is scoring and jamming the ball down their throats. We score 4 TD'S we win. Make no mistake we get their best effort Friday, guaranteed.

He has never gotten over being dragged into end zone by Marv Cook on 4th and 22 as Jim Zabel turned into Geddy Lee in the booth, Iowa pulled out a miracle in the Shoe, and Earle Bruce was relieved of HIS duties the following Monday.
