Iowa at Michigan

Explain to me what a wrestling "all american" is. How does one become an all American. What does it mean. Etc.

Dominating win tonight, with Hawks taking 8 of 10 matches.
Paris is a beast, but Big Cass will likely see him again very soon wanting a bigtime payback when it counts most.

Yeah, the top two at heavy are both in a different league.

Paris reminds me a lot of Kyle Snyder. Great combo of size and athleticism. Cass will learn from this and come back better.

He got lucky once, but never again.

Tony Cassioppi is the best heavyweight in the nation, and will win the championships going forward. It will be similar to the 125 pound national championship last year.

Love Cassioppi but he’s not even in the same zip code as Steveson and Parris.

Both of those guys are highly technical and Cassioppi needs to learn to go to the mat for his single legs to take it to the next level. His standing ankle picks work against goof balls because he can bulldoze it and finish with his weight, but Steveson and Parris are athletic enough either get out of bounds or roll with it. And his doubles are out of the question, there’s just no way those two guys are gonna get caught by that.

Kyle Snyder turned the tide for good on the concept that bigger is better in the hwt class. Steveson and Parris are examples of that. Strength and quickness are the dominant characteristics now, and the other night was an example of how a smaller guy who’s stronger and technical is always going to win out.

The main thing that Cass needs to learn is that when he takes a shot and finishes, he needs to IMMEDIATELY move to secure it. In H.S., especially at heavy, you can get away with relaxing for a second before you improve your position. That's something that's not going to work at this level against elite wrestlers.

I really like his natural ability and mindset, though, and my guess is that he'll continue to improve and be in the mix every season. He's much more than a glorified GR guy like Stoll.
