Iowa at #16 in AP Poll

By the time the BTT wraps up, it's possible that not one B1G team will be in the Top 10, after beating themselves so much. Only Sparty is in the Top 10 now.

Definitely. I don't really see how San Diego State and Wichita State are better than Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State and maybe Wisconsin and Ohio State yet they are in the top-5 because they beat up on mediocre teams. Oh well, college basketball rankings are pointless.

San Diego State beat Creighton and Marquette and also beat Kansas AT Lawrence. I'd say they have a solid resume and deserve no worse than a #3 seed.

They are good (thought beating Marquette is like beating Xavier, it's pretty meh) but if they played a BIG schedule they'd be in a similar spot as other BIG teams. I'm pretty certain that every other team in the country would be.

Plus, a lot of close home wins against mediocre and bad teams. If you're number 5 you should typically blow out other Mountain West teams at home. Number 3 seed sounds about right though.

I don't see a B1G team getting a #1 seed this year in the big dance. You might have to win the B1G Tourney to even get a #2 seed. On the bright side there are now 5 B1G teams in the top 22 with Wiscy and OSU moving up this week.

Please don't get flustered by the Analog Parents Poll. It is a relic of the past. The writers are our parents age and few get the Sabermetric world sports can be evaluated in.

The computers and evidenced based polls like the Massey summary see Iowa as 10th, b/c they see every game, and the see every game the same way.

the writers and coaches fur sure see only a handful of games, so just chalk it up as a tool your parents or grandparents use to use.

If MSU gets healthy and wins the BTT then I think they will get a one seed. The committee will take into account how long they've played with three different starters battling injuries. Them getting fully healthy is a big if though.

I believe something similar happened in 1999-00 when MSU won it all. They were without Mateen Cleaves for a while and got a 1 seed despite 7 losses. They were healthy and playing like a championship team by the end of the year.

MSU getting a 1 seed is very possible IMO if they roll through the rest of the season.

Iowa has good shot at getting 2 more shots at Sparty, 3 if you think really far into march.

And why would we want that? I only want to see them once more, at MSU (and I will watch that game with only one eye open to ease the pain). We could not beat them on our home court with Payne and Dawson out, and Appling with a limp wrist. With them healthy, I would rather someone else play them in the big dance. Only a few teams this team needs to avoid in the dance (Syracuse, Arizona and Sparty). They can beat anyone else imho.

Michigan State barely beat us even though we went nearly a half without a field goal. That's another way to look at that game.

And with barely one eye open to avoid the pain? Because Iowa has a history of getting blown out this year.

Those are two big Ifs though. I think MSU looses at least 1-2 more conference games and they have no more than a 50/50 shot at winning the BTT.

BTT Win% MSU-25% Iowa 24% MICH 18% rest to the field.
FF%. MSU 21%. Iowa 18%.
NCAA WIN MSU 8% Iowa 5.5%

Although MSU has lead for regular season, moving forward, Iowa has legit chances, injured players or not.
