is what i've heard. would be a good get. 6'9" or 6'10" and very, very, very athletic. katenda's teammate, too.

Just from the sounds of this quote I would say Iowa is actually the leader....
From an article on Rivals.

"Iowa has offered and they are in there strong," Lindsted said. "Clemson is in the mix along with Wichita State, Missouri State, Auburn, and Utah State."

It also goes on to say he plans on taking his time with the recruiting process, just like his teammate Katenda. Will probably take his officials after his season is over.

This would be a great get. I wonder if there would be some sort of package deal Fran could muster up with Katenda coming as well!

I would take these two without batting an eye. We need athletic bigs, desperately.
Much easier to find athletic guards than bigs. Perfect answer would be to have Archie decide to graduate, bring in Cougill to replace Cole at center next year and add Katenda and Olaseni. Then you have Big Ten size bodies at center next year in Cougill and Brommer, with a trio of power forward types in Basabe,Katenda and Olaseni with true small forward sized guys like McCabe and Aaron White. Then we would be a big Ten sized squad on paper anyway.
I would not mind red-shirting White if necessary.
Then bring in Woodbury, and the two guards(Gesell and Paige) and boom you got a nicely balanced roster in 2012-13 with bigs: Center/power forward:Woodbury,Cougill,Basabe,Olesani,Katenda
Small forward:McCabe,White,May
PG: Payne,Paige
SG: Marble,Oglesby,Gesell

I like our future if Fran can put that kind of roster together over the next few years.

I like your thinking. The nice thing about this prediction is it is realistic for where the program is right now. I could see us missing out on Olesani and or Katenda and replacing them with other similar type recruits, but at least Hawkeye fans have a reasonably bright future to look forward to.

If Cougill ever plays at Iowa again I will lose respect for Fran Mac's ability to scout talent.

Sorry. He just does not have 'it'.

it's easy to dismiss Cougill since he always had that slightly overweight, slow, can't jump white guy look. however, it takes talent to even get recruited from the lower half of the BT. He is also just a kid, could grow more, could learn new skills, could surprise. I'd like to see him get the shot to prove himself.

Cougill runs the slow break....

Fran likes the fast break.

You mean like his senior year in high school when Lick asked him to lose weight prior to coming to campus? Or when he got to campus and he was given the same edict? Or when he was given the chance to stay eligible by taking one summer school class?

I know people don't think he is athletic enough to play in Fran's system. I think his amazing lack of work ethic is a bigger deal. Seriously, it is like fool me thrice...

I was walking through Kirkwood College and saw Cougill and the head basketball coach waiting to go see one of the couselors. Now I dont know anything about what was going on but it strikes me wierd that a 21 year old needs his basketball coach to take him to a counselor.

On a side note, he appears to be a little bit slimmer but he was wearing a hoodie and basketball pants so who knows.

There is absolutely no way we take 3 bigs in the spring signing even if one is a JUCO. I could see two bigs but not three. It would be really nice to upgrade the center position next year which really shouldn't be hard to do. I bet if a scholarship opens up and we can give 3 for next year that we take two bigs (one a JUCO) and a quick guard or wing.

I really think that Cougs only gets a scholarship if nobody else commits or if another big leaves the program.

21 years old is not too old to have your "boss" take you to see a counselor. It actually is good leadership... displaying you have genuine interest in the guy. No matter the age of someone... it is always good to have someone showing they give a hoot. He isn't 21 yet either I don't think, but even so... who can't use a wing man?
