Iowa a 6 seed

Big 10 champions. The women got close, the men can take it all. Hasn't Iowa done it before with that seed anyways. Let's go one more time.

Beat NW. MSU game will be a question of officiating. Will arm bars & hand checks be called throughout the game?

We all know the answer to that one.

Weren't we talking conference title 2 weeks ago?

Honestly things could get real interesting if we lose to NW. They are about 150 in the RPI and we might be staring into a play in game should we drop that one.

If the hawks get to friday against msu the media remembers last years screw job, I think the league remembers the criticism, I would expect to have a "more fairly" officiated game.

The refs called a lot of fouls on msu in the first 8 minutes of last weeks 2nd half but the hawks couldnt capitalize because of their own issues.

Well that's good and bad... good because Northwestern may be the only team that wont run fast breaks on as all day.

MSU isn't unbeatable... any of the teams we would have had to play from seends 1-3 have beaten us both times besides Michigan.

If Iowa is able to beat Northwestern, I say they should play their normal game in the first half vs. MSU, then come out the second half and hand check, hack and grab unmercifully. Of course, the officials will never swallow their whistles...they will call everything on the Hawks...but at least they can beat MSU up and extract a little revenge.

damn. i hate Mich St with a passion. do not like that draw one bit, but it's their own damn fault they couldn't win a ******* game against a crap team.

The more I think about it the more it might not be so bad. We really HAVE to win the first game. After that it doesn't really matter. Losing to Purdue was a very good possibility. Not near as much so with northwestern.

Once we get past round one, we will have either turned it around and we will have a chance, or we won't have turned it around. If that's the case it won't matter who we play cause we will lose anyway. At least we play at night.

I wonder if Fran will actually consider this. He has seen this game play out to many times to not know what's coming in the second half.

Our best bet might be to get down double digits at halftime. That way izzo won't come out fouling like that. We might have a chance in the second half to come back and get the lead. Once that happens it will be to late for izzo to change his strategy because it will be to late in the game to re train the refs.

How about instead of Iowa using the arm bars and hand checks as an excuse they learn to deal with it? They know it will be coming, stop being pansies about it.
