Iowa #8 in Both Polls

Absolutely. We're #8, so that's only 3 spots away. And at the rate Top 10 teams have been losing this year, especially. Gotta win out, though.

My bigger question is whether Iowa still has a shot at a #1 seed. If we win out AND win the conference tournament, I think it's still possible. On that note, my focus is knocking out Wisconsin and moving on to the next game. One game at a time. Yes, cliche, but that's my mindset.

You better be focused because I really want to win that game. Come on man! Why would a fan focus on a game?

I think Kansas and Villanova would have to lose twice for us to pass them. Everyone else has to lose once.

Win out...7-0...and we are guaranteed a 1 seed. No more than 3 of the teams ahead of us can win out because they have to play each other. And 5 of those 7 wins will be somewhere other than Carver. And at least 6 of those wins will be against teams in the top 60 range...with 4 or more not at Carver. If we win out we are no worse than the overall #3 seed IMO.

I know a lot of people are upset about losing games we should of won but if you look at the shots that didn't go in they weren't off by much.We still are way ahead of where everyone predicted we would be,if we can get a few more guys shooting the ball we will be fine.

Yeah yeah, I know.

I meant that I'll wait for Iowa to win these last 4 games before I start thinking about 1 seed. I want to see how this team rebounds with Wisconsin. If they play well and take care of biz, then I'll feel better about Iowa's chances of winning out.

Then I don't see @OSU being a cakewalk.. Not much sense in thinking about the Michigan game when there's other games before that.

I've never been one to really look too far ahead on the schedule anyway - I usually just am aware of who the next opponent is.

I agree. That's why I'm thinking we can get as high as a 1 seed and #3 overall. But we are ranked 8th despite a couple poor outings so people know we are good. If we go 7-0 with the schedule we will be playing we could pass them if their loss is a bad loss in their respective conference tournaments. I'm not predicting any of this...just going with the hypothetical we're discussing.

Kansas at Baylor.
Villanova at Xavier
MSU at OSU
Virginia at North Carolina
Villanova at Marquette
Oklahoma at Texas

If MSU and Oklahoma lose their games, that puts us at 6th. We will almost certainly jump whoever loses the Virginia North Carolina game. If Xavier loses we will probably jump them but if they win and Marquette can beat Villanova this weekend, we will jump Villanova. If this week goes perfect (which is highly unlikely obviously ) we could be sitting 4th with all 3 teams ahead of us being in a position where if they lose, they fall below us.

Other than it being cool to be the number 1 overall seed, it really doesn't matter at all if Villanova is ahead of us. They won't steal our bracket like Kansas would. It's probably better for Villanova to beat Xavier to knock one more team below us. Kansas losing tonight would be huge. The odds of us getting the midwest 1 seed is almost zero if they win tonight.

Villanova and Xavier can't both go through their conference tournament without a loss. The same is true of Oklahoma/Kansas and NC/Virginia. And we can take care of Michigan State ourselves.

I'm assuming the shots that weren't off that much were from the free throw line.

I will be cheering for Villanova for sure.
