Iowa 6th Seed

They’ll play Oklahoma more than likely the 2nd rd. If they can get past the Sooners then they’ll more than likely have UConn. Beckers would not be the problem in that matchup, Sarah strong would be.

I would million times more want to play OU on the road than UConn on the road. I don't think this team is Elite 8 level at all, but might be able to sneak into Sweet 16.

What a great late-seasonn run to get a #6 seed! What a difference between being a #6 and #7 seed: the 7 has to play on the road at UConn; with a win, Iowa plays at Oklahoma instead. Couldn't have asked for a better draw, really.
The Committee really liked the BTen: giving the conference two #1 seeds, giving Iowa the benefit of the doubt, choosing Maryland over Ole Miss for a #4 hosting slot, etc.

First round game will be Sat 3/22 against Murrey St.

Potential 2nd round game against 3 seed Oklahoma.

Both first round amd potential 2nd round games will be in Norman, Ok.

For Iowa to make it to the final 4 again, it probably would have to beat #3 seed Oklahoma, #2 seed UConn and #1 seed USC.

Honestly cant complain for jans first year.

Not going to lie, that 5 game losing streak was rough. They were all close games, but you started to wonder, if it was going to be one of those years. JJ and Lucy Olsen seem to figure it out…right about same time. Coincidence? Maybe. Regardless of what happens in the tourney, this season is a definite win.

Ask me at the beginning of the year, and I would have told you, Sweet 16 was probably the ceiling for this team. I don’t watch a ton of women’s basketball outside of Iowa, so take it FWIW. Teams 5-30 all seem pretty close to me. Translation: Assuming they beat Murray St. it isn’t a stretch seeing them beat Oklahoma in Norman.

As well as Iowa has played the last 10 games, they are playing like a #3 or #4 seed. So it would not surprise me if Iowa beats Murray St and Oklahoma to make the sweet 16. But this is also the team that lost 5 in a row and the team that seems like they just can't win the close games in the last 2 minutes.

A lot will depend on Lucy stepping it up like we know she can and not disappearing late in games. It will also help if McCabe can get hot with her 3-point shooting at the right time. Stuelke does not need to have a great game, but if she is off, then OGrady or Heiden need to provide a boost off the bench.
