Iowa 37th In Sagarin

Going off topic a bit... I always found it Ironic that while Iowa followed this very sound philosophy, but yet on offense forgot it....asked 2-3 star guys to play perfectly against often superior talent and defy the odds ...hoping execute drives with lots of plays....and ultimately to outscore the opponent.

Agreed,

It's likely a huge part of why we run more and remain balanced, even at times where passing seems more prudent. Ball control, clock control(talk about irony), field position...even if you dont run a lot if plays or win the yardage game. Another reason why having a good/great punter and kicker is so important in this philosophy

I also believe that us why historically we don't see frosh play much except the obvious reasons. I've always believed development at most positions can close the gap in "star" rank by quite a bit.... also a reason Hawks usually have a tougher time with large attrition years.

That said, the "speed/skill" positions that development does seem to have as much bearing...qb, wr... it appears that recruiting may have improved.

Its interesting for sure.
