We win out, we're in a BCS bowl. A win over OSU late in the year will provide a nice jump in the rankings.

And if Wisconsin loses, that will be nice, too :)

I don't know if an OSU win will propel us over a one loss MSU for the at large bid. I'm still preparing for a CapOne/Outback bowl and anything over that is gravy.

it WILL propel us over a one loss MSU team. I believe all we have to be is in the BCS top 14 to get an at large spot and it is then up to that bowl committee if they want to take us. If i remember didnt we get a bowl game over MSU or someone a few years back even though we had one more loss than them? I think so and it would be the same for this year. If the Sugar had to choose between us and MSU not a chance in hell they choose the team we beat and a team that travels WAY worse than us.

beating OSU will bump us up there....but now I think wed like MSU to lose at Penn State....that seems very possible now so if that happens and we along with Wisky wins out that gives a clear two top teams in the Big 10

If the Sugar Bowl has to pick from Iowa and OSU, they'll take Iowa. OSU fans travel, but they won't take 40,000 to New Orleans like the Hawks will.

I won't be disappointed if we end up in Florida again.

I don't think a 2 loss or a 1 loss team makes a big difference in the selection process. It's all about money when it comes to bowl games.
Iowa destroyed MSU anyways.
MSU has a bye week this upcoming weekend, and then finish up against Purdue and Penn State.

We all know the BCS is all about "What have you done for me lately."

It benefits Iowa to play a tough OSU team late in the season.
Of course, have to win out before any of this talk means anything.

Not true.

If Wisconsin, MSU, and Iowa all win out, MSU will get the Big Ten's automatic bid, and and 11-1 Wisconsin team will get invited ahead of a 10-2 Iowa, so it won't be a situation where jumping ahead of MSU matters.

We do not control our own destiny for a BCS game - we need some help. We could win out and end up in the Cap One Bowl, which I think is the most likely scenario.

Check out the computer rankings (13 14 12 19 18 12) of Ohio State which include a 19 and 18. I'd say they HATE Ohio state with an average of 15 ranking. As Deace keeps posting every week - OSU has played absolutely no one.

Wisconsin's 1 loss came to MSU...a team we destroyed.

Wisconsin won four games against: UNLV, San Jose State, Arizona State, Austin Peah.

Sure, they'll have one more win than us. And sure, they beat us head-to-head(some will argue we beat ourselves, but that's for a different day...)

Wisconsin is currently ranked 7th right now. They will not jump up any higher than that, assuming no big upsets in the top 5 occur.
If Iowa wins out, including a win against a top 10 BCS team late in the year, they will very likely be in the 8-9 range in the BCS.

Just because wisconsin is ranked higher than Iowa by 1 or 2 spots, that means nothing. Sugar Bowl wants a sell out. Will Wisconsin bring as many as Iowa? No.

Look at the schedules. Iowa has played one of the hardest schedules.

And yet, since they're still OSU, human voters love them, which is why we should get a nice boost in the two human polls if we beat them. It's better than nothing at this point.

You're right, SR, they won't. They'll take 50k.
OSU fans travel like no other.
Don't get me wrong, Hawk fans are legit and fosu fans don't bathe regularly, but...the ugly little tree-nuts travel in sick huge droves.

Several things wrong in this thread. Wisconsin BEAT OSU. The highest ranked team in the BCS will go in a 3 way tie. Head to Head would not be used because every team would have loss one to the other or didnt play (OSU vs MSU).

I had Wisc schedule mixed up with MSU. MSU isn't playing OSU this year - my bad.

Still doesn't change my opinion that if Iowa wins out, they're in a BCS bowl

If you are trying to say if Iowa, MSU and Wisconsin all win out and the Sugar would take Iowa over Wisconsin you are on crack. Wisconsin won head to head (not that it matters) and they would take just as many people to the Sugar Bowl as Iowa would.
