Iowa 1 point favorites @ Neb

Nebby has a huge home court advantage. It'll be packed and crazy because this is their best chance to get a win the rest of the year (@ OSU, @ Illannoy, vs MD). As HawkWalk said, Nebby's shooting has sucked. Also, noticing a lot of Iowa-like frustration and head hanging by Petteway, recently.

Here are the keys. Hawks need to get at least 12 point lead going into half because Petteway and Shields will find their touch against Iowa in the 2nd half. Then it comes down to Woodbury ... does he show or blow?

I see Hooskers overcoming 8 point halftime deficit to win 65-61.

It's not "must win" but now makes Illannoy and PSU absolute must wins, otherwise Iowa is out of the dance. (Assuming loss @ Indy and beating the purple off NwU in Carver.)

Petteway came out and addressed those issues recently, his mom or dad has serious cancer or something.

I think we all know what's most likely to happen here.

I heard his mom. Understandable. Maybe saying "iowa-like" was unfair, as Iowa's is purely a case of mental frailty and a checked-out effort, but he's been frustrated and pressing, none-the-less.

For Iowa's sake, I hope it continues. However, given their track record of bad luck, Petteway nails 6 - 3's, giving the BTN a perfect side-story to the game.

It is true about Petteways mom, and that sucks bad. That's a tough thing to handle for anyone.

He has had some attitude issues before this though, very streaky player, let's hope he doesn't have a hot game today.

I don't like anything nebby, but hope his mom fights this awful stuff away. All the best to her and family.

Iowa arrived at the arena about 12:15 in their Hawkeye bus. Looked good in the shoot around. More active and loose than Nebraska did, which somewhat surprises me. I think if Iowa loses, they are out of the NCAA. If Nebraska loses, they can still make the NIT. JMHO

Interesting moment when Nebraska Assistant Coach Harriman came out to talk with Fran and Patrick. Coach Harriman has a young son battling cancer as well.

Two to three dozen Hak fans in the house early, all standing down low by the court, taking pictures and offering support for the team.

One group called Patrick over to have him in a photo with two young ladies. The team really razzed him when he came back on the court. THey seem to treat him like a little brother ... only nicer. : )

Arena not near as full as it normally is 25 minutes before the game. Maybe the Husker fans will stay home today and watch since it is about 3 degree windchill today.

Go Hawks

Don't fool yourself: this is absolutely a must-win. Iowa's probably out right now. If they lose this one, they'll have to win the conference tournament.

It'd be nice to have some success, now that Iowa's wrestling and women's BB teams have joined in the February swoon.

This is a must win. It would also build some confidence, be a road win, and provide cushion for 1 loss...but only 1.

Lose, and would probably have to win out and win one in the BTT. At the very least it would leave very small room for error.

Gotta shoot decent (>45%) and be scrappy.

Hey, you can believe whatever you want. But if you're paying more attention to ANY OTHER SOURCE than ESPN, Iowa's right on the edge. And "on the edge" is a terrible place to be when you're a power conference team at the end of February. That means that Iowa might be in...IF NO UPSETS HAPPEN IN ANY ONE-BID CONFERENCES. Fat chance of that. Iowa had better not give the committee a reason to leave them out, and losing to Nebraska would be a reason.
