Interesting recruiting tactic

It's unfortunate the article doesn't mention the last minute pulled schollie (From a long time commit) this last year of a RB from Georgia by Bama..

...I immediately thought of that when I saw the subject. "They are trying to show a highly recruited Georgia RB that he IS NOT the same case as the one they pulled a schollie from just a little bit ago and that that WON'T happen to him"...

...F Saban.

Thats the first thing I thought of too when I saw the story but when I was reading it I wondered how many recruits Alabama has done that to in the past. I can't imagine this kid being the first. But I hope that future recruits put that last minute schollie pulling into their consideration when considering Alabama.

^Alabama and ^ the SEC

I was expecting to see something like the Hawks apparently do during the winter by only shoveling the "YES" in "HAWKEYES". This just seems annoying, he was probably excited though.

Saban is really doing these kids a disservice by cutting them if they don't produce. Name one other aspect of life where you are punished for failure?

Pulling a kid's scholarship offer is absolute bull crap.

Yours truly,

Robert Caldwell & Tevin Shaw

Neither Caldwell nor Shaw had committed to Iowa when their offers were pulled. Bama pulled offers after the players had verbally committed. You understand that you can't just offer the number of scholarships that are available because some kids will go to other schools. So you offer more than you have, and you honor the players that tell you they are coming. Than once you approach the total number of schollies you can offer, you have to tell those that offered that havent made a decision yet that there is no longer room for them. This is the difference in the two situations. Alabama had a verbal, and pulled it when they got someone they wanted more. Tevin Shaw had a offer from Iowa for a few months(he didnt make a committment to Iowa), they pulled it soon after the Barkley Hill commit.

The clue phone is ringing. Please pick it up.

pulling offer != pulling scholarship after committment

And SEC schools have gone even further and non-renewed scholarships for players already in school.
