This year's Iowa team joined the following teams as the only Iowa teams in the post-Lute era to win against a higher seeded team:

1987-1988 (5 seed Iowa beat 4 seed UNLV)
1991-1992 (9 seed beat 8 Texas)
1998-1999 (5 seed beat 4 Arkansas)

Seed wise, yesterday's win was the biggest upset Iowa has won in the tournament since 1980 when #5 Iowa beat #1 Georgetown in the regional semifinals. They also had another seed upset against 3 Syracuse in the regional final that year.
