Instead of Captain Kirk...

...it should be Captain QB Killer. Leave to KF to turn CJ into the reincarnation of Sr year Tate/Stanzi/Vandenberg/Rudock...another senior year, returning starting QB who is only a former shell of himself. Indecisive, neutered, too scared to make a mistake, would rather take a sack than try to force a play.

It's sad, really...

So, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. We had an almost one of a kind test case with Ruddock going to another Big 10 team and starting. Jake excelled once he got out of the Iowa system.

I think CJB sadly is feeling the same de-evolution in this program.

I think it's rather obvious, actually. Can you think of any QB that spent 4 or 5 years at Iowa that didn't regress?

Chuck Long, Chuck Hartlieb and Matt Rogers? Thats just off the top of my head. And I believe that Stanzi did have better overall stats his senior year.

We're talking about under this staff. Stanzi progressed against the coaching cause he was an Alpha and didn't get the gunslinger mentality coached out of him.

I disagree. Stats don't come close to telling the story with Stanzi. That guy went from gunslinging, risk taker, a$$-kicker....to a scared-to-make-a-mistake shell of himself...

Everything you say is true, but that '09 defense was pretty salty. It is a lot easier to be a risk taker with a D like that. Holy ****, it just hit me that was 7 years ago.
