12 seasons in the league, 7 Pro Bowls, 2 of them first team, All Rookie team in '07 and a Super Bowl ring.
He's by far and away the best Hawkeye NFL'er in history. No one else even comes close.
Tunnell was an impressive guy. Can’t believe I’d never heard of him.One Hawkeye might come close - Emlen Tunnell. He played for the Hawkeyes in 1947. He is in the NFL Hall of Fame!!!
Imagine being Karras, changing your name to George Papadopolis, adopting a disadvantaged youth with your wife whose name was Ma'am, and then getting indicted. That guy's fall from grace has been remarkable.
I don't get it.
Tunnell was a mentor to young Green Bay defensive backs like Herb Adderly, Bob Jeter (another Iowa alum) and Willie Wood (who strongly considered Iowa) during the gestation years of the Vince Lombardi run. Adderly was a Michigan State alum. Adderly and Jeter were running backs in college. Wood probably played his share at that position too (at USC when Don Coryell would have been his position coach).Tunnell was an impressive guy. Can’t believe I’d never heard of him.
Ah, come on! That was gold! (well, I enjoyed it, at least)
