Impressions of the Iowa Sate Game last night

The following tweet from ESPN sideline reporter Samantha Steele stood out to me: Believe it or not, this is one of the best gameday environments Ive ever seen. Sooo loud in here right now!!/End thread
I disagree with this. Maybe if she was by the student section it was loud. I was there last night halfway thru the second quarter it was pretty quiet.
That being said the tailgating was great. I was with the in laws in lot d3. The fans there have always been very cool.

Where did you sit? I sit by the visitor section and after the first quarter I got a headache because of the noise. It was loud hell on the west side.

good stuff right here.

and, to the knitting person - if there isn't enough yarn in the market to supply two knitters, how in the heck do you think there will be enough yarn for 3? Too many losses, man, too many losses. especially when you play the toughest conference in the nation.

good thing, though, you got to fire off the tornado siren - Folly was probably questioning the investment there at 34-0. Maybe he'll start firing it off when the other team scores too - just to keep up that loud home field advantage -given harvest is coming it is probably something he's had in the works - given his genius.

Jebus........

1. You guys will have enough yarn for the 3 of you. Because I am guessing you guys have knuckled it enough down the drain to circle the world thrice.

2. And your ******** about the scoreboard is lame. Iowa never plays sound on theirs?

We were on the west side as well. The first quarter was pretty loud. It was pretty quiet after Texas got started rolling. Noticed a ton of fans leaving with 2 or 3 minutes till half.

that air raid siren is on the scoreboard? no, in my experience, iowa never calls out a first down, or fires up a siren for a TD. We just cheer.

It was a great environment and it was loud. The place was ready to explode..........then we turned it over 3 times and got down 13-0 just like that. And all of a sudden the place was quiet. It was a giant opportunity by the team and they ****** down their legs with dumb mistakes

To ***** about ANY college FB game/environment/tailgate is lame. Pure and simple, college football is "it". Pro football sucks, high school football is better, Arena Football has cheaper than NFL football. NEVER complain about being AT an actuall college football game!

she obviously wasn't at iowa vs wisconsin last year.

but good for ISU that they have fans that were excited for this season and were making noise to support their team. too bad the game went the way it did. now is when we'll see just how good of a coach they have if he can get them up for the next game.

When was ESPN there?
Which game was she referring too?
No side line reporter is ever going to say "This atmosphere is terrible. I think I would rather be at any other game than this one right now."

wikipedia says she is an ESPN sideline reporter and Longhorn Network (ESPN subsidiary) reporter. So she must have been there for the LN. I just checked her twitter feed, and she did say it about the ISU game.

Is this like a jerking off joke or something? I don't get the reference.

Die-hard hawk fan who happens to be a season ticket holder to the cyclones. A buddy and i went in on season tickets hillside so we have two seats. Our reasoning was financially its the best way to get the hawk game. Beyond the hawk game we just kinda share the two seats, he took his grandson to the UNI game, I stayed home, I took my 14 year old daughter to the Texas game this weekend, and vice versa. We tailgated for 4 hours before the game and an hour and a half after the game, it was good times. My best friend whose a cyclone fan asked me how I thought the atmosphere compared to games I had seen in Big-Ten stadiums and well this is my answer: Against Iowa this year the atmosphere was electric and the best i've ever seen at Jack Trice, vs. Texas I thought the crowd was dead from start to finish. Yes the clones didn't give us anything to cheer about, but it was dead when they came out and for the opening kickoff. Just felt no energy in the stadium all night. Usually at least they're jacked up till the opening kickoff, I felt it was dead in there Saturday. All i can say is that reporter clearly wasn't anywhere near the southside of the stadium.

As far as the game went, it reminded me of the ISU vs. Oklahoma game I wanna say in 2002 or there-a-bouts. If you remember the Cyclones had started off the season really well, were ranked I believe, and feeling good about themselves as a program. I remember the announcers in the state geeking out that ISU had finally arrived as a legit program in college football for something other than just upsetting Iowa. I remember they kept talking about how the game against Oklahoma would finally put ISU solidified on the map, and that they would finally take the next step as a program they had been dreaming of. They play Oklahoma, get absolutely wood-shedded, and go on to lose every single game the rest of the season. It stands as the game I always revert back to now when I explain to high school football players about how they can't let one loss turn into 5 or 6. This game saturday vs. Texas really had that kinda feel from beginning to end. I think RHodes is a heck of a coach and won't let that happen but honestly I could see them losing every game the rest of the season after that beat down Saturday. Hope not cause i'll be at a couple of em.
