Impact of football on Bball

What do you think will be the impact of the coming football season on basketball recruiting? Here are some factors I could see coming into play.

1) Added exposure helps recruiting.
2) Football school identity hurts recruiting
3) Big Wins (Gameday for OSU) help recruiting
4) Disappointing high profile losses (Gameday for OSU) hurt recruiting.
5) Apples and Oranges, no impact.

What do you think?

if anything it helps i think because high school kids see the success our college sports are having and know its possible. boy it would be great to have a top bball team and wrestling team in the same year

football success gets our school name out there in the spotlight more making us more visible to recruits for all sports.

It cant do anything but help really. Added exposure and added $ never hurts an athletic department

It could help but you got to bring recruits on campus for a game before it really helps. The previous staff didn't really bring that many kids in....let's face it.

Winning football=more $$$$=stronger athletic dept.=stronger recruiting.

+1

One of cliche3's most positive posts and one I can agree with. Kinnick on a fall football afternoon is almost heaven (except for the opponents) and the rabid support for a Hawkeye athletic team can impress recruits. Let's hope Fran can restore the same sort of enthusiasm for the bball program so prospects can see CHA rockin, too.

Looking at OSU...I think it helps. Success is sexy and it spills over. Then having the right salesman at the helm(Matta) closes the deal. We got the football program,we got the salesman(Fran),so let close some deals!
