IMO, TCU versus Auburn would have been a better game

I don't get this thread. No team lead by double-digits, and it came down to a last second field goal. There was quite a bit of drama and excitement. Not sure what more you can ask for out of a national championship game. Only one I can think of that was better in recent memory was the Texas/USC game from 2005. Miami/OSU from 2002 was a good one as well.

IMO it was a terrific game and everything I hoped it would be.

Alright, alright, I was wrong. Thread done! lol

You can debate whether TCU deserved to play in a National Championship with their relatively weak schedule, but I think they would have given Auburn a more interesting game than Oregon did. I say that in the sense that after the first half I never really thought Oregon had a serious chance to win.

Also, for as much attention that SEC gets for its speed, it wasn't speed that won that game, it was a size advantage for Auburn. For all its fancy gimmickry, Oregon couldn't get a few yards when it counted.

I'm not sure how much better the game gets then being won on a last second field goal. It should have gone into OT if the Oregon player would have tackled. It was a heck of a game, and both teams played well.

IMO, TCU would have lost to either team. Auburn probably would have blown them out. TCU/Oregon might have been a really good game...

Ridiculous. TCU shouldn't even be ranked ahead of Oregon in the final poll. The game couldn't have been any better. The team speed of Auburn and Oregon would have killed TCU. Aub and Ore would have both won by 2 touchdowns.

I agree... Final polls should have left Oregon at the 2 slot.

Miller should keep this^ post archived somewhere as quite possible the dumbest post ever put on this board.

Auburn's rushing defense was 10th in the nation, Oregon averaged over 300 rushing yards this year and they were running for their lives. I'm sorry but I think Auburn would stifle Wisconsin's rushing attack.

Auburn would score in the mid to high 30's on Wisconsin and the Badger's would be lucky to score 2 TD's. There's your 21 points.

Wisconsin would score more than 2 TD's on Auburn. Oregon's zone read running offense does not compare to Wisconsin's rushing attack, they are completely different styles. To say that Wisconsin wouldn't have success rushing just because Oregon didn't is not a good argument. Wisconsin actually matches up with Auburn a lot better than they did with TCU. Auburn has a great defensive line but their back seven is average at best. Wisconsin's line would have done much better than Oregon's OL.

Oh come on now. Seriously? Saying that the second rated team in the BCS would have given Auburn a good game is the stupidest thing anyone has ever said on this board?

To add to this, Ohio State also was successful in stopping what I think was a better Oregon offense in last year's bowl, even without SECspeed. Although it's comparing apples to oranges to pears, Wisconsin has had success two years running against Ohio State.
