I'm sick of other fans making excuses due to injuries

on their teams. It's a part of the game! Here is Iowa's season opening starting offense against Ill St.

LT 52 Myers, Boone
LG 79 Welsh, Sean
C 63 Blythe, Austin
RG 65 Walsh, Jordan
RT 75 Boettger, Ike
TE 80 Kreiger-Coble,H
WR 89 VandeBerg, Matt
WR 17 Hillyer, Jacob
QB 16 Beathard, C.J.
RB 29 Daniels, LeShun
Here is our BIG season opening offense against Connie
QB 16 Beathard, C.J.
RB 33 Canzeri, Jordan
WR 89 VandeBerg, Matt
WR 9 Smith, Jerminic
WR 17 Hillyer, Jacob
FB 42 Plewa, Macon
LT 64 Croston, Cole
LG 79 Welsh, Sean
C 63 Blythe, Austin
RG 65 Walsh, Jordan
RT 75 Boettger, Ike
No Jake Duzey, our projected starter at TE, injured most of the season. Our RT hasn't played in 5 games (Boettger). Our LT missed 5 games. Our best WR has missed 3 or 4 games with a nagging injury. Our QB limps through every game for the last month. Our best DL as a torn ACL and will now miss the entire 2nd half of the season.
We may not be one of the top 4 teams in the country but our offense has been a MASH unit for most of the season and we are STILL 2nd in offensive scoring in the conference! So please, Connie, Gopher, Illini, NW and any other whiney azz fan base......just stop. If we had the same offense from start of the season, til now, we'd probably have hung 60 pts on you! Consider yourselves fortunate.

Envious of Hawks success, because it wasn't forecasted ahead of the season to happen this way, this year. Just sour fans looking for excuses to try to explain away what "no one" predicted.

What's wrong with using injuries as an excuse when you're a fan? I can see not wanting your players to use that as an excuse, but injuries can be a pretty valid reason to lose a game. Just because this one time we've overcome them doesn't mean we should be thumping our chest and saying they don't matter. There have been plenty of our seasons in the past that have been derailed by injuries.

It's called depth. Hawkeyes have more of it than a lot (most) teams. So yes, if your team doesn't have a lot of depth and there are multiple injuries, it makes sense to blame injuries (in part).

Blaming injuries in a sport like football is kind of weak. Pretty much every team has them and if they don't have any major players missing there is no doubt that at least one of them is hurt.

But not all injuries are created equal. If CJ wouldn't have been able to play for 3 weeks and we lost all 3 ganes, you're damn right our fans would be blaming injuries. Every fan who knows anything about football blames the Northwestern loss on '09 on Stanzi's injury.

Injuries do make a difference but we've had just as many if not MORE than the idiots that are complaining! They act like their injuries matter but ours don't. If they had the injuries and we didn't, I'd let them complain in peace.
Wisconsin had to play without their RB. Boo frickin hoo! We played without our starting LT, our best WR and our starting RB!

Ugh don't remind me. We were looking good for 10-0 then that happened.

And that's completely different! When you lose a player during a game, it's a game changer because that player practiced all week and was counted on. These whiners are complaining about missing players that they knew they were going to be missing.

Gotcha. Yea I agree with that.

Injuries build depth. That's how I am looking at it now. Next man in. Saw the graphic of the number of 4/5 star players on the top 4 teams during the broadcast Saturday as compared to Iowa yet Iowa is in the conversation and 10-0. Why? We have had injuries. What other conclusion can I come to? Our 2 and 3 star guys just keep stepping up and making plays. 'Nuff said.

Well put. Cant just plug another 4 star guy in a hole....heck Hawks may not even have had a 4 star guy in there as a starter in the first place.
This is a great season of 'whos up next?' You got guys fresh out of Waukon, Decorah, etc playing every down. As Fresh and Sophs! And we are 10-0 and can clinch a West Div. berth this Sat. Are you kidding me?

I agree. I like how other teams think their injuries are more significant. Wisky is one of the worse. "If Clement was in, we would have won that game". Nobody looks at the number of injuries Iowa was dealing with and the number of underclassman that stepped up. Replacing tackles only to that the new tackles out with back ups in. That's proof that KF's system is working as a whole. Replacing the interior lines and getting production.
