Well, let's see didn't Lute Olson came from Long Beach State....KF only head coaching experience was Maine.....
Not disagreeing that major conference experience wouldn't be nice, but it's certainly no more or less of a guarantee than an up and coming assistant or a mid-major coach.
Ultimately, it's the AD's job to properly evaluate the candidates and find the best guy....it's tough, but that's why AD's do pretty darn well. They're paid a lot to make those decisions and too get them right.
