I'm more sad than angry....

Apathy? Is that why you've been posting on this board since the end of the game? Even after your "I'm just done..." pout-fest, you're still neither apathetic nor done.
The losses don't hurt ad much anymore. I might of bitched out it on here but I'm just done.

Hey guys, some stuff happened a few years ago that has nothing to do with now. That's totally predictive of something.

I think his point is that there is no need to sit around and complain that this is the end of Iowa football as we know it, because every time they fall, they get back up.

I tend to agree with that, but then again, I'm not a butthurt myopic who's jelly on Kurt's paycheck.

That's more or less the point but it's presented as if there is some meaningful numeric pattern to it which is ridiculous. Aside from Ohio State and Michigan (maybe Penn State before they did gross stuff), there has always been fluctuation between what teams are at the top of the conference. Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State and whomever else, have some good years but have never been a consistent conference power, they always get sucked right back to mediocrity. We're just kind of in that phase right now and we'll probably climb back out at some point. It is what it is and a simplistic pattern isn't going to predict when we come back to the top of the pack.

I emotionally detached myself after the NIU game. The writing was on the wall. That writing got bigger against ISU. It got even larger after the UNI game. There's no room on the wall after today.

Here's the thing.

People keep pointing to 2010 as a down year. That was the third 8 win season in a row. It was NOT a down year in KF's pattern.

So, no. This is year two. Next year will be year three and then things will turn around. But, they might begin to start looking up next year.

However, the schedule is murderers row for the Big. Particularly when you consider Hoke and Meyer will have another year of development for their strong classes.

So going 8-5 after starting the season in the top 10 is a good year, but going 7-5 and winning a bowl game after 4 straight losings seasons, like, 2001 is a bad year?

LOL got it.

You are jelly on my package. Don't deny it.

Of course the complicating factor is the change from 12-13 games, but even then...

It is only a good year or a bad year if you consider winning more or less than 60% of your games as good or bad. (Now it means 61% or 53%).

However, the assessment of an acceptable season on this board has seemed to historically been set at 8 games in a 13 week schedule. Which is a good regular season and a bowl loss against a good SEC team, or a barely winning regular season and a bowl victory.

7 wins means .500 during the season and a bowl win. Or last season... Neither would I think Hawk fans would particularly croon over.

But my point has always been to keep things in perspective. During these downturns people say silly things like the program has been slipping since 2004. During the good times KF is God and Barta needs to do whatever is necessary to keep him. The reality is, he puts together nice stretches, but can't sustain them over the long haul.

You should tattoo this on DTF's forehead.

Please keep saying this instead of utilizing that silly pattern to make your point. It sounds better.

The thing is that people keep using creative ways to discuss his record without looking at the whole record. I think that is extremely important. Plus, I love getting under everyone's skin.

The first time I brought this up was actually to call Jon to task for creative schedule accounting. He loves to ignore the first two years like they didn't happen.

But seriously, I would love to see this pattern broken on the positive side. It would mean the staff had made the necessary changes to reload instead of rebuild. If they break it on the other side, it will mean a new staff.
