We can only hope for that. It'll be a long drought come to an end.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the team plays with more spunk as the defense extends out a little to jump passing lanes instead of just packing it in to take away the inside.
 
I hope Iowa is in the tourney in two years. Not sure that is going to happen though... You are talking about vast improvement of current players along with the newcomers being difference makers.... I just don't see it, I hope I am wrong. One close game with Mich St. doesn't change anything in my mind.

We won't be going to the tourney of John Lickliter is still playing. That would mean we still suck. Make no mistake, John Lickliter would not be playing for ANY other D1 basketball school anywhere, not even as a walk-on.

Really? Seriously dude, for ****s sake. Give it up. If you want to **** on a kid who is playing his *** off every time he steps on the floor, do it somewhere else.
 
I missed tonight's game (my college played a conference rival tonight), but it is a relief to know the Hawks are at least playing better. I'm still not sure about Lickliter and the future, but not getting blown out and winning a couple games lately has been nice. I'm glad that I've been proven wrong about this team, at least to an extent.

Did you watch the Purdue game? He was the primary reason we were in that game in the 2nd half. He may not be the most talented player in the world, but he plays hard all the time and gets the job done often enough that he's worth keeping around, especially since our roster isn't full and we have no other point guards besides him and Cully.

How can you call yourself a Hawkeye fan and when all you do is rag on Lickliter for getting some playing time. I think he does a fairly good job when he's in there. He doesn't turn the ball over, he's a pretty good passer, and he can hit the 3 just as good as most the guys on our team. I think you think he's worthless just because he's not the prototypical D1 college bball player. Give the kid a break.
 
I've been ready to rag on Little Lick and he certainly made his share of mistakes and poor shots at critical times tonight. But he also played with some defensive intensity and as I recall was involved in at least two steals.

I agree on a better team he's probably not seeing PT. But if Payne needs to be pulled for a while (as he clearly did tonight), we're sort of out of options.
