Brothers, this basketball season I've been mostly positive. But I have strayed. Oyez, I have STRAYED down the past of negativism. I have FORSAKEN this basketball team in their time of need.

But NO MORE! Brothers, I have SEEN THE LIGHT! No more will I fall victim to negativism! The power of positive thinking is in my SOUL! YES!!!

The Hawks WILL BEAT PURDUE! It is GOING TO HAPPEN*!

And no, I'm not kidding...I really am going to start thinking positive. It worked with football, so it will work for basketball, too.


*for the record, every time I have predicted a Hawkeye victory in football or basketball since 2003, I have been wrong

Not only that, but I'll be gunning for 2 in a row when I say Iowa will beat Michigan State.
I just have a feeling about that game....FINALLY the Hawks get their "signature" win of the season.
 
I agree. Hawks will find a way to get a win vs Boilers, and then relax and get another win next week.
 
It has been predicted, it has been written, it shall be ...

-- Iowa beats Purdue, is crushed at MSU, beats Illannoy -- all by double digits (that part is new).

-- Iowa is #5 seed in BTT, beats whoever Thursday, eeks out win over fOSU (basically the same sort of "underachieving" season as Iowa, except, they suck on offense, not defense) on Friday, but get Gopherized by Michigan on Saturday.

-- They finish 5-5 last 10 regular, 5-5 last 10 overall, still earn a #6 seed in the NCAA.

-- Most importantly, based on the soul-searching comments from coach and players, they refocus and regain enough mojo in the BTT to still make it to the second weekend of the dance. Yes, they get bombed out of the tournament by Creighton in the sweet-16 but it's a satisfying enough finish to call the season a success and get excited about the progression of the program.

MARK ... IT ... DOWN and bask in the awesomeness of my oraculous prophetic abilities.:cool:

You really do struggle with this positive thing, don't you? You were doing so well, then you had to add the asterisk. Not that I blame you.

Nope. I won't do that. I'm a changed man. I did it for football when I started getting fed up...I'll do it for BB to.

I had to put that asterisk in there...IF Iowa should lose (which they won't), then folks can blame it on me. But when they win, then I can publicly show my bad luck streak is over.
 
We will beat Purdue. HN is the only place in the universe where this would be considered a bold prediction.
