Illinois Trainwreck Continues

Other than what Iowa is doing right now, this is my favorite storyline of the season so far. It's pure entertainment.

I really wish we had one more chance to play them before Benn leaves for the NFL. I'd love to make him eat his words...

I absolutely despise Zook, and have always had a disdain for the Illwhini, so I'm enjoying witnessing the demise of the Illini program under his watch. Trainwreck sums it up 4 sure.

The Illini situation is shaping up to be a complete disaster as this season winds down.
When Loren Tate(AD Guenthers unofficial media mouthpiece) is painting dark pictures of Zooks stewardship, you know the ship be sinking.
As a suntimes writer pointed out yesterday, all that fancy schedule jerry-rigging done by Zook/Guenther to push those last two non-conference games vs Fresno and Cinncy out to ''keep them ready for their bowl game'' now looks silly. So,due to this, the illini have two off weeks in a season from hell, and will play cinncy on the road the weekend after thanksgiving, and then Fresno at home on Dec 5...which further extends the agony(imagine how many fans in Memorial stadium on 12/5 to see a ca.mid-major take on a 1-10 illini team?)..and in the ultimate irony, will tie Guenthers hands even further if he should want to fire Zook...most schools that fire their coach will do it 2 weeks earlier, and will have a big jump on hiring the hot coaches and assistants...while Guenther is doing the vulture watch on Zook's final days coaching at illinois....this may end up saving Zook's neck for another year..hope so.

I think they would have to pay Zook around 6 million to go away...not happening..zook will be there for a few more years.

I want Zook to stay as long as he wants. Can we all contribute to keep paying his salary? It's too fun to watch the Illini stink.

Chief IlliniWreck..............I LOVE IT!

Remember how we were warned that Ron Zook's recruiting would dominate the Big Ten? What a Canard that was.

I really hope Illinois keeps Zook. As my handle may indicate, I'm a big Bears fan and frankly I really dont want to see another broken down ex-ILL INI coach "dead end" in Chicago!

This is at least the second year in a row that Dave Revsine should have learned that "Talent doesn't=W's"...Can't blame him though, he was correct in his assessment...he just gave Zook too much credit in thinking he could possibly do anything with it.

The coaching staff has been using the tight end more and more in the last few ball games. I suspect they are worried about losing their top tight end recruit so they have revised their offense to involve the tight end more to impress the recruit. Hopefully, the recruit sees through the charade and comes to Iowa!
