Illinois-PSU tonight

Who do we root for? Do we root for PSU because it puts Iowa all alone for 6th in the conference or do we not want ILL to dive in the RPI and hurt our chances for a good win?
 






Illinois needs to win. If IL loses to PSU and finishes higher......

Not a big factor, but it is there. IL with 8 wins gets in. The ? is how many B1G teams get in. IL will get 8 wins regardless. I'd rather they get in strong which should help Iowa. Of course there is a real possibility of a complete IL collapse and in that case, a PSU win is good.
 


Illinois is going to get in due to their big wins in non-con and over Indy and OSU. As long as they don't completely tank. Iowa needs to beat Illinois whether Illinois is good or bad to get in, so they might as well beat PSU to improve their resume.
 








I think the one who said, "It doesn't matter" is probably closest to the truth here. At this point, it's about wins and placement in the conference. By the time we play Illinois, it doesn't matter if they're a Top 25 or Top 50 RPI team....we just need to beat them. Our best argument for getting in, barring either a win at Indiana or sweeping through to the BTT finals, is finishing alone in 6th place....preferably 2 full games ahead of both Illinois and Minnesota. Doing that will get us an RPI of around 57 with 21 wins and 10 wins in the toughest conference in America. That SHOULD be enough.
 


As long as we beat Ill, it doesn't matter. But if the unthinkable :)eek:) does occur and we lose to Ill, then I think it would be better if Ill beat PSU.

If we don't beat Illinois it won't matter because we won't be going to the tournament unless we beat Indiana or make it to the Big 10 Tournament finals. We HAVE to finish 4-1 and we can't lose to anyone but Indiana unless we beat Indiana (1% chance of happening imho).

Pretty much what Bluecrew, dunder, and rico said. THE most important thing to making the dance is just keep winning, doesn't matter what happens in any of the other games if the Hawks don't win. One of the teams RPI's will go down, one will go up. If Illinois happens to be in the top 25 when Iowa plays them, then it will make a victory even more impressive on the resume. A loss to them will have a much larger impact on Iowa's chances then beating a top 25 or top 50 Illinois.
 


Weather looks crappy in Champaign tonight as well. I really wish they didn't postpone our game right about now..Good start for Nittany Lions, I will laugh

Do teams really have to all "high five" the free throw shooter whether they make it or not?
 


This year just needs to end for Penn State..losing Frazier would've been like us losing Gatens last year. I feel sorry for them

Some Punk Announcer praised Brandon Paul for the most obvious flop since PlasticFace, Travis Tritt, pulled an extremely obvious one against Zach McCabe to seal the game for MSU......

A little girl could have touched Brandon Paul and it would have been a more serious foul......

I want Illinois to lose every game they have left, including the tournament, lousy battery throwers......
