Illinois NIT game

Ok. Self admitted geek here. I root for B1G teams in bowls and postseason tournaments. WTF is with Illinois? Down 25 in the 2nd. I guess their players checked out. Pitiful.

62 - 34 Alabama is destroying Illannoy! When you might have to go in front of your AD and argue for your job.....this isn't how you want your team to play. Ugh.

It seems like only yesterday that the Illini were coming off of a NCG run and we were in the toilet with Alfraud/Lickliter. I'm enjoying the change. I'm not gonna lie. Lol.

The Big Ten as a whole is just bad. Both A-10 teams won their NIT games tonight. Hawks are gonna lose by 30 to Davidson. All the predictions are true. Might as well not play the game.

Man I hope Groce keeps his job. The more incompetent a coach they have at Illinois, the better it is for Iowa. The last thing Iowa needs is for that sleeping giant to awake.

How can they be sooo average to bad with that kind of recruiting base, and the quality of players they get? Over the last 3 years they have signed (7) 4* players and they can't put together a good season for the life of them.

And to think....the Alabama coach was fired just before this game for having (almost) the same record as Illinois.

That was bad.... Coaches have been fired for less... That said I hope he keeps his job :) That state is ripe for the picking of getting kids out of there now hope that trend continues.

They haven't been the same since Rice came back from suspension. Looks like Rice was a divisive player.

Watch out for them next year. They have a ton of talent and more good players coming in.

The only NIT any of you should care about, ever, especially if you have kids in school:

This is said, every single year. Watch out for Illinois, they have great players coming in...blah, blah, blah. At this point I'll believe it when it happens.

Agreed. I was wondering the same thing about Michigan in the 2000's, but they figured it out eventually. Illinois will at some point, too, but hopefully no time soon.

It boils down to this: some teams/players/coaches treat the NIT as a true post-season opportunity, others treat it as a snub.
