Illinois is coming on

Minnys last 7 games are Wisky (H), Iowa (A), Ohio St (A), Indiana (H), Penn St (H), Nebby (A) and Purdue (A). The best I can see them doing is 3-4 which would have them finishing 8-10. They have the worst schedule of Iowa/Ill/Minn. Purdue, who is also 5-6, plays Ill(A), Indiana (A), NW (H), Iowa (A), Wisky (A),Mich (H) and Minn (H). Purdue could easily end up 7-11 or 8-10 as NW is probably their only certain win. The Hawks just need to take care of business and they'll be in the NCAA tournament.

I see Minnesota winning at least 4 of those games. I have it as a loss but I would not be surprised to see them beat Indiana at home.

Yes they do, and they shot it horribly the first 9 games of the B10 slate, but are now shooting it better, hence Illinois is starting to heat up its shooting.

If Iowa can play tough defense on the perimeter, hopefully they can stop it. If not I agree, it is bad for Iowa.

I would say Purdue has no certain win, considering the way they got dusted in Evanston. Or considering the way NW shoots a lot of 3's and Purdue defended the 3 horribly in Evanston.

I'm not saying that Iowa would lose even if Illinois shot 50%, but I don't think it is a guaranteed win like everyone is counting on this site.

HF, I agree Illinois is not a guaranteed win. I am hopeful that they can pull it off but I am not ready to bet the farm either.

I agree, Purdue is awful Iowa should not have lost that game.

Certainly not guaranteed, but I'm not shaking in my boots over it, either. The odds are in our favor, IMO. We defend the 3 very well, and Illinois lives and dies by it. You generally side with the defense in that matchup.

I guess to me the Wisky game and Minny game still read true in my mind, where the 3 pointer won the game or sent it into OT.

Also, I know our 3 point D is decent, but if a guy is on fire doesn't really matter how good the d is, the shots will still fall.

That game is still a long ways off, though. Plenty of time for them to cool off again.

Iowa/Illinois will be battling for 5th/6th, if they take care of business. Minnesota and Purdue, with their extremely tough season ending schedules will be battling for 7th/8th....pre BTT. Minnesota will likely finish 8-10 and Purdue 7-11/8-10.

You mean 6th/7th. It is highly unlikely both Iowa and Illinois knock Ohio State, MSU, Michigan, Indiana, or Wisconsin out of the top 5.

The benefit to relying on the three is that if you're on, you can compete with any team in team in the country. On the hand, if you're off, you can lose badly to just about any team as well. It's fine line that Illinois has been walking all year.

It seems that most good 3-point teams last season just destroyed Iowa. But this season they seem to be doing better with defense and getting off screens better and not allowing as many open shots as last season. However sometimes teams just get hot and hit those shots with a guy in there face. I am hoping Illinios has a bad night against Iowa or Iowa can score with them.

Completely agree. We just have to play defense like we have for much of the season and hope a good crowd at home will help out against this streaky shooting team. The fact that it's a home game is huge for this young team.

As the 50 something Hawkeye fan I still worry about a potential let down/upset at either PSU and later Nebraska. Assuming the Hawks can sweep PSU and edge the Gophers this week it's looking good, very good. Pounding Purdue will be fun.

Still believe Iowa can upset IU on some off chance.. Zeller or Victor tweaks an ankle, some flu or a death in their family's family (God forbid)

Believe Iowa will bury Illianoy, it's a must game and the Hawk's 3 point D is too good now. Just hope the home finale against NE will be a going away party for Eric May. He has had a terrific senior season and part of the winning ways.
