I'll stop watching if....

Persa starts running around our D-Linemen just for the fun of it...tapping them on the shoulder before he jukes them, sprints to his left or right, and throws a frozen rope to someone in the flat who is wide open because Norm wants to keep everything in front of us and make them go the length of the field to score.

Someone needs to go to the film room and realize you beat teams like NW with consistent and relentless pressure...not sitting back and allowing them to do what their offense is designed to do...get 5-7 yards on short passes.

Seriously, any one else have this feeling of dread? I love my Hawkeyes, but you can't do the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

I agree. D-line better contain Persa from getting outside the tackles or it could get ugly. Offense better bring it as well cause this might be a shootout.

I'd suggest you not even bother turning it on, because it is a 100% certainty that your scenario will happen, probably repeatedly.

We lost last year with a defense much superior to this one. If we don't change the game planning on defense...this will not be a close game. Persa will eat us alive.

NW gave up an average of 49.5 points their last five games surrounding Iowa last year. Iowa scored 17. 2009 NW gave up 29.5 the 5 games surrounding Iowa. Iowa scored 10. Even if Persa is held in check KF or KOK will keep NW close.

You said it Stateline. NW's poor defense looks great against KF's conserv-a-ball. Get ready for the gnashing of teeth and wails of woe Saturday night.

You guys are clowns. We win by 17 points:

1. Coker gets 200
2. Bernstine "shadows" Persa in a new strategy.

We have been game planning this game for 6 months. The Hawks are ready.

Book it

Unfortunately we are going to have to endure Persa tossing about 35 passes Saturday night ... and scrambling, etc. There will be plenty of 5-10 yard passes on the Northwestern side ... We just have to hope the bend-but-don't-break philosophy works ... Will be even more frustrating this year because our d-line has not put pressure on anyone and Persa -- I am guessing, will have time to stop and tie his shoes laces before he decides to run or pass.

I'll stop watching if we have a 10 point lead, I know it will end in a loss if that's the case.

Persa was 32 of 44 last saturday vs the undefeated vaunted aggressive blitzing defense of Michigan. They have athletes but could not stop Persa.
We will not either. We have to hope for turnovers, which the Wolves got two of in the 2nd half, and score tds most everytime we get the ball. Michigan only forced NW to punt 3 times all nite. Do not accuse Iowa of defensive stupiditiy, cus everyone will struggle vs Persa, like undefeated Illini did two weeks ago. They are very hard to stop, period.

So thats why we lost to PSU and ISU, because we were planning for NW

I think Bernstine will be a little preoccupied with Ebert, Dunsmore and co.

JH - well said. These have been my thoughts too. If very good ILL and MICH teams struggled with them then they are going to pound us.

Fitzs nicey nice complimentary act this week has me doubly nervous. I say we lose 35-21

I think our problem last year was our offense, not our defense.

They scored 21 points last year. Sure, we should have held them to less, but we should have easily been able to score more than 21 points against their defense.

... and I do realize Stanzi went down in that game, but we still should have scored more than 21 points.

Ok, step away from the bong. My comment was that we had a better defense last year and still lost with our game plan. With this defense, if we try the same thing, we will give up 45.

And Stanzi was hurt in 2009, not 2010 or last year. Ok, free to take that hit.

We will give up 45? You step away from the bong

And those expecting the game plan to change....it wont. Its all about execution

Have you ever considered having a positve attitude? It works wonders for the old libido. And, I've always thought that was the best philosophy to proceed through life with. It dosen't hurt the hawks chances either. JMHO

I'd suggest you get your arse to the stadium if you are such a Hawkeye fan. I'll be there and stay! Hawks kick some Cat's rump!
