I'll ask it...Do we accept the Detroit Bowl bid?

Well, since we have apparantly already lost our last two games, why don't we just quit playing games now, decline the bowl, but then get the extra weeks of practice we would have gotten, had we accepted it.

Very rare excellent point for you.

After today's performance I think I'd be ok with that.

Just looked it up, Kirk gets $100,000 for any bowl game we go to. So no,we won't be turning down a bowl game. Good to know he gets such fair compensation for the tremendous coaching job he's done this year.

Jon, do you know how much Kirk gets for a bowl win? I imagine he receives a bonus for that and you know Kirk won't turn down a chance to pad the ol' bank account.

the University of Iowa will never turn down a bowl bid, unless there is some scandal during the season or something outrageous like that. Not gonna happen, so conversations like this are just whizzing into the wind.

It's also not up to Kirk Ferentz whether Iowa would turn down a bid or not.

Iowa is not going to a bowl at 6-6 if there are enough other schools to fill those spots.
See 2007

People have a reading comprehension problem

The rule that bowls must take a 7 win team over a 6 win team dont exist anymore like they did in 2007

If NW & Purdue get to 6 wins, Iowa will stay home. These bowls KNOW Iowa fans aren't gonna care about a freakin' LittleCesaersTicketCitySuckFest Bowl. While NW & Purdue fans would gladly take it. Those bowls will want someone that's actually happy to be there, which Iowa won't be.

True, but, if we lose to Purdue, and it came down to us and Purdue for a final bowl spot, would a bowl committee take Iowa over a team that we had lost to?

I think not.

Iowa will get picked over Purdue any day of the week. Purdue's fans never travel even if its a decent bowl game whereas there will be several thousand Iowa fans willing to travel to the D

I just don't see a committee selecting a 6-win, sub-.500 conf-win team over a 7 win team that beat the aforementioned six win team.

Just great.

There's an argument over whether a bowl in Detroit will take PURDUE over Iowa.

The anticipation is unnerving.

Emphasis in bold.

I usually don't get too worked up about the almost contsant stream of idiocy that is spewed across this board, but I again must point out that we have not lost our last two games yet.

Bettendorf is going down next weekend.

A win or a loss at Purdue won't matter all that much for getting a big step up in a bowl.

Nebraska is the only game I care about now. I hate Nebraska and bragging rights for a year is worth more than a low-tier bowl game.
