IKM vs ISU

IKM made some nice cuts and showed some good burst. Was interesting to try and figure out the RB rotation in game. I wanted more Goodson, but it all worked out.

I’m a little down on Toren Young at this point. He’s a “power” back but he runs too high and really doesn’t run a ton of guys over. The couple times he’s gotten in space this year he’s run too horizontal for his game.

Sargent has looked very solid and improved this year, but I think we are going to continue to want to get Goodson more touches, he’s special.

So all that is to say who knows exactly how they will play it. We have 4 backs that it appears are going to play and all have shown ability.

Welcome back IKM! Where did you go? Why did you go away?

Although I can see the potential in Goodson, I have not seen overall why he is getting so much playing time over 3rd year RB's. He had that 1 great run against ISU where he faked out 2 defenders in the backfield, but other than that, nothing outstanding yet that I can remember. Maybe he could use a year in the weight room and then he could be someone special.

It was interesting for it being a tight game with the delays and all, the rotation we had.
Shows faith in all of them. That bodes very well for the season.
I also agree that I think the run game has improved. The line looks better at run blocking and the backs look like they have stepped forward as well.

I'm wondering if they are using IKM a little different. Last year he took a beating while our offensive line tried to figure things out in the first 3-4 games. I think they are spreading out the punishment a bit this year. Sargent took some hits against Rutgers...wow...there were a couple of guys on that defense that could lay some lumber.

The reason why they are playing Goodson is that he brings something to the table...vision and great quickness through the hole. There have been several runs where he's made a cut or had a burst to get outside...that the other backs would never do...they would get tackled trying to get outside...he gets there. I also think it sends the right message to other prospects in the southeast...we will play you right away. Goodson has needed to show he can protect the ball...he probably has 35 carries and nary an issue with ball security. Keep giving him 8-10 carries a game...he's going to break one.
