Our linebackers and defensive backs took over the game in the second half. State's receivers were coming up with alligator arms, with Gervase's pick in the end zone of what should have been a TD a perfect example. We were whacking their receivers all over the field.
Didn't one of their receivers have his eyes roll back after being knocked out of the game? Our defense was physical as hell and their defense was hurt by a targeting ejection if I recall correctly.
I'd be just as satisfied to see an Iowa QB win three-in-a-row against ISUx.
As somebody who played receiver in high school I can say that a tipped ball is not easy to catch if you aren't expecting it!The players were saying Stone got a finger on that pass that Gervase picked and the ball deflected enough for the receiver to bobble it. On replay you can see the receiver have to move/adjust his arms and hands. So this was another example of a big play effort by Stone and not a lucky drop by MSU with a heads up play by Gervase.
I thought the DLine was also very solid that whole game and they forced those two first half turnovers that resulted in great field position. The Dee only gave up that one busted play long run for a TD by their QB otherwise they were very solid.
