In 2009, I remember thinking, "God damn, if Shonn Greene came back, we had a legitimate shot to play for a NC". That team with Greene would have a been a nightmare and even without Stanzi for a few games, there is no way we lose a game until the bowl game, and even then...I wouldn't have bet against us.

Now, heading into 2014, with the three LB's leaving and knowing all three played as true freshmen, can you imagine if they would all had another year of eligibility? I would say, with those three coming back...top 5 defense nationally...and that means you have a serious shot at winning every game. That being said, with the way our offense plays, we could give up more points than the defense if those three were coming back.

We always seem to be a year of eligibility away from greatness.

The OP is right. We would all have a Merry Christmas. Too bad some are non-Christians.

I agree with your post but we probably would have had a better shot in 2010 if Angerer and Edds each had another year of eligibility than next year. Defensive line in 2010 was much better than this year.
