If you were the Big Ten Brass, would you let the game go on Saturday?

Look, I am an admitted Husker hater- but I would never wish real danger on any football player and/ or team outside of the normal risks of football. My question is simple- is there any way to ensure a reasonable environment for a football game to be played in Happy Valley for all parties involved Saturday?

Could they block the students from attending? If they tried, it would likely be an even bigger scene. Maybe PSU falls on the sword one more time and cancels/ forfeits the game as it is the last home game for 2011.

As much as I was looking forward to Nebraska losing in PA Saturday, for the sake of all involved, I think this game should be scrubbed.

Awful for the seniors involved on Senior Day, and there is no replacing that, but man this could be an ugly environment that would have absolutely nothing to do with football if the game is played.

Clearly Nebby needs to stay quiet to avoid looking like they want some kind of easy pass, but if I were Mr. Davis, I'd be burning a few of my rollover minutes here.

On a side note, I had to run outside a few moments ago and grabbed my Hawkeye stocking cap and I can't remember a time I've put it on with more pride and thankfulness- we may lose to teams we shouldn't, but this whole disgusting event has firmly reminded me there are far more important things than wins and losses.

Had not really thought of it like that, but you may be onto something. My guess is that the show will go on though.

Play the game. Life goes on.

Let the judicial system do its work to find, judge and prosecute the guilty.

I've heard some say they couldn't let Joe Pa coach this Saturday, think of the scene if he had? I would say it's worse now having fired him. Emotions will have cooled a little by Saturday which is about the only thing that might allow a game to be played under sane conditions.

Who needs the judicial system? Court of public opinion already crucified Paterno and got him fired. If it was up to the judicial system, he would have his job.

Nebby is coming from a conference where rivals fans rip off each others' nut sacks. I think they will be able to handle a bunch of spoiled East Coast kids.

They aren't putting him in jail! He got fired for making the university look bad. People get fired all the time for things unbecoming to a company/school/government job. He deserved this. NO ONE should be sticking up for him. He even admitted it himself when he said "In hindsight, I wish I had done more". Pretty damning.

That's not damning at all. He is saying knowing what I know now (about Sandusky) I wish had done more at the time. Then I could have prevented more kids from being abused. This statement to me makes it obvious that he DIDN'T know how big of a freak job Sandusky was.

Bring in the 10th Mountain division and Seal Team 6 and let's get the show on the road....NOTHING stops BIG Football.

No, Paterno got himself fired for his inaction.

If you try and blame anybody else for this, you're just as screwed up as Paterno is.

When do you believe Paterno knew of these allegations? 2002 when McQueary told him? Or as early as 1994, the 1st documented instance of inappropriate behavior by Sandusky?

If Paterno did not know until 2002 (and it's not clear exactly how much information he knew) and decided to call the cops and Sandusky gets arrested and they investigate and find out that for at least the previous 8 years a sex scandal was going on under Joe Pa's watch, what would have happened? Joe Pa would have been fired for allowing this to happen under his watch, even if he had gone to the authorities. And that's because the scandal is too grotesque and damaging.

Paterno is not the villain here, Sandusky is. So many of you are choosing to ignore that. Paterno's fate was sealed the first time Sandusky touched a kid and it had nothing to do with anything Paterno did.

If Paterno had gone to the police as soon as he learned of Sandusky's perversion (whenever that may have been), he'd have a job. His fate wasn't sealed the first time Sandusky molested a boy. His fate was sealed when he decided to basically do nothing about it once he found out.

Who knows when Paterno originally knew. If Sandusky and Paterno were really close friends he probably knew not too long in to their friendship. As others have noted, this type of systemic molestation is wired in to pedophile's brains. They don't just turn it on and off. Sandusky could have been raping kids and Paterno knew about it from the time they met. Sandusky obviously didn't try to, or have to hide it very much.

+1000.

The ignorance of some posters here is mind-blowing.

Since Penn State did the right thing and fired all those involved (those we know of) they should play this game. I would have felt differently had Paterno been allowed to coach this game.

But I really do not like the idea of Penn State representing the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl but hopefully it will not come down to that.
