If you thought Ferentz was testy, Check out Hayden Fry presser

Get 'em Hayden ... Love it ... If Hayden rants you have to respect it ... Had the opportunity to cover the Iowa/ISU game in the early 90s at Kinnick ... Being face to face with my idol while growing up as a Hawk fan is something I will forever cherish ...

Crazy how everything he says applies today. Makes you feel like a fool when you fly off and complain.

There will never ever be another character or more exciting football coach at Iowa to replicate Hayden. The memories that he has provided so many people is unmatched. He is the reason why I & many others wear the Tigerhawk proudly today. He played exciting football, won & knew how to recruit & develop a top notch staff. He was his own man...an innovator. He did coach in the right era, however. He would have never survived the internet & 24x7 armchair public quarterbacking. Long, long live Hayden.

Phil Haddy is immortal, pretty sure...

He's Waldo. Go back and watch any big game in Iowa's history and you will see him.

-1985- Iowa/Mich game runs on the field after the FG
-Chuck Long's famous bootleg to beat Mich State- Phil actually hugs Chuck in the endzone.

And many more.

edit- Here's another from the 86 Holiday Bowl Game winning kick just before the 5 minute mark and yes that is Phil running onto the field.

"It's not mystical, what we been doin'!"

I'm in 2 of the 3 videos mentioned above. Not quite Waldo, but... I remember seeing Phil standing in the white paint in San Diego, between the officials, who had JUST warned us all to stay back of the line. Then he runs out like a maniac - funny stuff. He took a lot of kidding for that.
