If We played Ohio State 10 times, how often do we win?

An impossible question to answer, but most "experts" might say only one or two times. But it only takes that ONE TIME to win a championship, if Iowa actually plays Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. The whole point is to get to that game. Iowa has a chance to win the division and make it to that final game. Once you are there, you never know what can happen. I recall the Massey rating service earlier this year projecting that Iowa had a 33% chance of defeating Wisconsin in Madison this year (according to that estimate, the "expert" was saying that Iowa would defeat Wisconsin 1 out of 3 games in Wisconsin). We DID win that game. That day, at least, we were the better team by 4 points. My obvious point is that the games have to be played on the field, on a particular day and with a particular roster (some players playing now may not play then due to injury). If we make it to the championship game, we DO have a chance to win it.

I'd say Iowa wins 3-4/10. Iowa's defense matches up much better this year against spread teams and read option teams, simply becaus King and lomax are excellent in run support and even in short pass situations. Plus Iowas linebackers seem to have an extra step of speed covering outside runs.

if we can run the ball on them like we have against everyone else this year it comes down to special teams and turnovers. If we can't run on them successfully I don't like our chances as i expect them to score on every possession.

if it was 5 games in Iowa City, 5 in Columbus, all during reg season
then I would say 3 out of 10

If it was 10 games in Indy for CCG

then 2 out of 10 at best.

Upsets, by their very nature are improbable.

7 out of 10 at least and you know why? With the New Kirk now in charge we'll have so much winning in this series you'll get bored with winning. Our defense in that game will be so big, so strong, and so great, so powerful that we're never going to have to worry about their skill positions. And Kirk has assembled an offensive wall around Beathard so impressive that even Urban will have to respect it and will stay up late at night trying to find ways to scheme around it. And you know what, we are even going to make Ohio St pay for it when they try to blitz and CJ burns them for another long one. There will be no illegal formations in Iowa's backfield.

Trust me, it is going to be so great you are all going to love watching it.

Statistically, the biggest difference, and the only major difference is in rush defense. Iowa gives up 74 ypg and OSU gives up 152. The rest of the stats are very similar FWIW.

1 maybe not even that, you may think OSU has under whelmed this year but when I've watched them it appears they are playing down to the competition. When they want to turn it on they turn it on, there is no way we match up with them anywheres.

I'd say 1/10, we don't match up well at any position.

I think the secondary would match up okay with OSU's receivers. Miller is an X-factor but other than him, there's no one in that WR group that scares you, and even he's been inconsistent.

I stated before 4-5 times out of ten we win...I'm hoping we will win the first time, cause that most likely gets us in the CFP, the second time a month later in the NC finals will be a motha of a dogfight!
