If u thought the cupboard was bare for KF

Hayden gave him tons of talent compared to what KF is able to recruit and retain. I think any new coach will be stunned at the amount of Iowa kids from small schools in the 2 deeps who couldn't get offers from ISU-these were guys on that 1999 roster who would among top 2-3 in KFs last few classes:

Kasper
Yamini
oliver
Flemister
wheatley
cunningham
lightfoot
Deal
herron
kampmann
barr
dj johnson
betts
khalil hill

Agreed. Kirk Ferentz and Gary Barta seem determined to gut the program in a vain attempt to try and salvage their own dignity. It's a shame. I knew Barta didn't give a darn about Iowa but I thought Kirk Ferentz did. Guess I was wrong.

Already said it. Only difference between KF being fired this year and next will be one more bad recruiting class and a couple million dollars.

I am finding it tough to compare the talent when none of these new commits have yet to play a down. Maybe on paper you could compare but that still doesn't make any sense and I think we owe a little more respect to the new class coming in. There may be some diamonds in the rough and I hope they are successful.

toez - Diamonds in the rough does not cut it anymore....time to bank on surer things. Please quit dreaming...."It's over Johnny!"

No kidding... Year 16 from the $4 million moron and we are hoping for some diamonds in the rough in a recruiting flop that is filled with half iowa kids.

Only one of whom has another major conference offer, and that's from Clown U. We have 8 other in-state kids committed that literally NO ONE ELSE wanted outside of the MVC.

Gallery was a TE his freshman season and then Ferentz switched him to o-line I believe. Hayden still was recruiting well, it was just his coaching that slipped a bit the last two seasons.

I think its funny how people on here think that a diamond in the rough if going to save this program.

but but but Dallas Clark

All I can say is I hope the new university president gets rid of Barta before Ferentz leaves. I don't want that fool picking the next football (or men's basketball) coach.

Respect should be given because it is earned, not because it is "owed". I really hope these players do turn out to be diamonds in the rough too, and that they end up being good players, but that has to be our hope at this point, because there is no indication that any other power conference program wanted several of the players our coaching staff is bringing in.

Guess we just have to hope that they know something about these recruits that no one else did.

I think one people forget is the rhabdo thing hurt Iowa recruiting a great deal. I don't know if it's affected anything this year but it certainly did even a few years after it happened.

I think if Kirk doesn't have a great season next year Barta will step down on his own and try to give Kirk one more year. If next years class looks like it could be top 2 of the Kirk era ranking wise I'd be fine with that.

One more year and Kirk is gone ... No ifs, ands or buts ... He will be gone ... This latest recruiting class sums up where this program is heading ...

If that's the case, then KF has nobody to blame but himself for his situation. I happen to think that KF has never been a good recruiter and he hasn't had a good recruiter on his staff for the past 10 years.

A collection of 2 & 3 star recruits most of them from Iowa or Illinois. Several of them developed into NFL players by the time they graduated from Iowa. No superstars there and just as many whose careers were disappointing. Not sure what the Ops point is, but looks familiar to the classes Iowa brings in most years. This cupboard full was 1-10 on the field that year too. Hard to compare this list of upperclassmen to a list of incoming recruits. Haters got to hate - nice work!!
