If things continue to slide

I assume KF will shake it off. But then I wonder if KF just gets fed up and decides he's had enough...lets hope a new AD is in place to hire the replacement. An alternative is KF picks a successor. The problem with that is that you end up with a "michigan man" solution if you will. you know someone from the program.

That's not necessarily bad but that limits the pool. But getting the guy who's from the program means you're getting the guy who will stick around. Most colleges hire a guy just to fire the guy within 5 years. Face it. So the iowa way IMO is a longer term play.

So lets hope Gary Retires soon so Iowa can set about the business of finding the right next HC.

Dipped half way into a local radio show and they mentioned Brian Ferentz as being a candidate for the TCU job. I have no clue if they were serious or not. If you are Kirk and you know the succession plan won't work at Iowa...the TCU job is a lot better than a MAC gig if BF could get it.

BF has a lot of baggage, but what gets lost among Iowa fans is the respect Kirk has in football circles. I don't think BF gets the job, but I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't get serious consideration.

Thats interesting but the only people saying BF is a candidate are folx in Iowa. Of course there is a network out there. Maybe Brian has had enough. Maybe he'd like to run things his way sooner than later. I think folx in TX want someone with ties to High schools in texas.

It wouldn't be about competing with Texas and Texas A&M. It would be about making TCU a player in the newly configured Big 12.

The only coach I see TCU alums wanting is Chris Petersen no mention of BF literally anywhere as it should be....maybe as a line coach ???

One can "only" hope huh?

It would definitely change the dynamics around Iowa if Brian walks. Law suite hurts us less, we could hire an OC that could bring in players of his own and get out and recruit. Accountability changes and that's the bottom line. I would think Brian would be eager to prove himself outside of Iowa.

What makes you think he’s not running things his way now? Seriously, would you want him as an offensive coordinator? If so then I hope you like unemployment benefits.

BF is a HC candidate for a HC job in D1??? HAHAHAHAHA No way I buy that. Not a chance. He'd be lucky to get a MAC job. And we'd be lucky if he'd leave for it. Which is why it won't happen... If we woulda ran the table or had just the 1 loss and had a great season sure BF woulda had his hat thrown in the ring for jobs. But man he's been exposed these last 2 games and if anyone thinks he's gonna push a magic button to get that Oline to start playing better and Petras they are smoking something pretty strong. I'll believe it when I see it

How many here think Brian is running HIS offense or a combination of his offense and Kirk's offense? Before you give me your knee-jerk answer, think about how many times Davis had a QB under center at Texas or how many stretch plays Texas ran under Davis. Then compare that to the offense Davis ran at Iowa.

What local radio show? Thanks

So your taking a inept OC and putting him in a conference that emphasizes offense and plays very little defense. I don't see how he'd survive, but would love to see him offered and take that opportunity.

Schematically this offense looks much different than it did what Brian took over and different than Greg D and Ken's offense. It is much different.

Who knows what it would look like ... think of the 60+ tackles for loss and the dozens of sacks that they gave up. Its like a navy that gets sunk in port. You never know what might have happened if they go into the fight.

The problem is that on the whole, its not more productive. Yes it has its moments but oh boy.

I've maintained that Iowa's offense is never any better than its Oh line. And usually Iowa's O line as a group isn't very good. Its the story of the young, the injured and the all-American.

Good post. Cuts to the chase.
