If the B1G Tourney Bracket Was Final RIGHT NOW (3/2)

Assuming Iowa wins the Illinois game and loses on the road to MSU.
Then, assuming Ohio State pulls out a victory at home over MSU.
And, assuming Nebraska loses both games (@Indiana, vs. Wisconsin).

How does the B1G determine tie breaker for Iowa and Ohio State since they split wins?

Next question, if Nebraska manages a win against Indiana and a loss against Wisconsin, how is the tie breaker determined in the 3-way tie between Nebraska, Iowa, and Ohio State?

Iowa and Ohio State tie is based on winning percentage against conference champion(s). Michigan should win the conference. Iowa is 1-1 against them and Ohio State is 0-1. Iowa wins the tiebreaker.

Iowa, Ohio State and Nebraska tie is based on head to head winning percentage of the 3 teams. Iowa owns this tiebreaker as well.

Best case scenario for Iowa is to slip into the 3 seed and have Nebarska finish in the 6th spot. Iowa 2-0 this week, MSU 0-2 this week and Nebby 0-2 this week.

And of course for selfish reason because the 3-6/11 game would be late Friday night instead of a late morning or early afternoon matchup if Iowa was the 4 seed.

I agree with this for all reasons you said. The only reason it would be bad is because the 3 seed loses this game a lot due to sitting around for 2 full days while everyone else plays. I would rather take our chances with that though.

It definitely matters if a team is in the top 4 or not in the top 4. It's much harder to win the BTT with a Thursday game..."

getting a bye is huge advantage, good point, agree totally.

My point is that once in the top 4, or the rest, it hardly matters.

Didja see team rankings still has Iowa winning the BTT most frequently of all contenders?

Thursday bye helps over 3 days. I don't think Hawks will win it all, anyway, so, given Iowa's history of looking really crappy after longer layoffs, bye could hurt.

You do realize we are only talking about the conference tournament, correct? We are not talking about the NCAA seed. Who knows how that will end up.

Iowa controls their own destiny for seeding in the conference tournament by winning their final 2 games. They would be a 4 seed and possibly a 3 seed which would be a first round bye. That's not a fantasy. But the Hawks are no worse then 4th by taking care of their own business this week.

They do not have to rely on any other teams winning or losing to get a 4 seed. That would be the fantasy.

All I'm saying is let's see how the Hawks respond to the gift IU gave them by beating OSU on Sunday.
I thought that it was perfectly clear what this thread is about. It's not about what happens if the Hawks do this or that against Illinois/MSU.

It's about what the Hawks would face seeded number four RIGHT NOW (3/2).

you do realize that don't you?

Unless the Hawks shore up their weak D, they will lose at MSU and beat IL, finish 4th, and probably not do much in the BTT. 6-8 seed in the Dance.

Hoping for a little more.
