If someone said to you we'd play OU in a bowl.....

Just wondering, if someone said to you that Iowa would be playing Oklahoma in a bowl game this summer (who was ranked preseason #1 I believe) what would you think? I'd say I would take in it a heartbeat. Iowa seems to get very generous opponents in bowl games, even in mediocre seasons like last year or this year. Arguably the worst bowl matchup Iowa has had in the KF era was against SC in the Outback after we had a late run towards the end of the season that included a win over #3 PSU.

yeah, this is a very generous bowl pick i think on our side. It will be one tough game, i hope we show up or it will just make us look very bad

I realize I am in the minority but the only things about these crap bowls I like are the money and extra practice. Every single one of them is an exhibition (even the "championship" game) and the only reason to go to one is to take a vacation someplace nice. Tempe AZ is not someplace nice.

Hopefully Kirk can get the team ready for this game. Sounds like OU fans anyway, the only emotion they have about this game is "Yuck" so if OU comes uninspired I can imagine us wrecking them like we did to Texas in 0'6 in the Alamo, even though they won, we outplayed them that day.

extra practice importance is highly overblown/overrated....and the big 10 splits the money even anyway so we get as much as Minnesota will who isnt in a bowl

yep, they do not sound thrilled by it. If we had the whole team begin taking steroids tonight, do you think we would have results by the game?

I'd think that chick probley gives a great BJ because she is stupid as hell. That is, of course, if a chick told me this.

chicks giving great bj's? nowthat's what we needto be talking about...

POST 2000! Im going to Disney Land fukers

I don't think that its overrated. Look at us vs Mizzou last year, they were our Defense's worst nightmare, a spread team that threw alot with a good QB and relied on our LB's covering recievers on slants and crossing patterns and against Mizz D that I believe was in the top 5 in the nation in rushing D. If we played Mizzou in the regular season with only a week to prepare I wouldn't have given us a chance.

Tempe, AZ is very nice. Have you ever been there? I'm guessing you have not.

I'd have said "Wow, what a great year - facing OU in a BCS bowl!" As it is, Insight Bowl. Now it's "Wow, what a disappointing year for both teams!" Especially for OU - preseason #1 and end up in the Insight Bowl. Ouch.

That said, the matchup excites me, even if it makes me think we'll get manhandled.

Anyone that says they do not like these bowl games because they are an ''exhibition'' just does not like college football, period.

When you boil it down to its essence,we all follow Iowa football because we enjoy watching our guys compete on the field, right?
Well, we get one more chance to watch them compete, and it is against a historic program. Cannot beat that,if you are truly an Iowa football fan.

When you look at our bowl record the last 10 years...6-3,and the lineup; Texas Tech,USC,Florida,LSU,Florida,Texas,South Carolina,Ga. Tech,Missouri....and now OU?
If Iowa was an indy, and scheduled those ten games, and went 7-3, we would be singing hosannas to the genius that is KF.

That is an amazing lineup of bowl opponents, and the best part is Iowa is 6-3.
I,for one, love the bowl season, the bowl system, and the only tweak I would allow would be a plus one game a week after the New Years bowls.

I am very pleased with our bowl invite, and playing OU will be a huge challenge, but it will make the win so much sweeter. And if we lose? Hey,we are huge underdogs...no sweat.

Agree!

Iowa State and Minnesota did not go to bowl games last year and guess who beat the Hawks this past regular football season.

My ex gf is from Oklahoma and is a slu..... I mean a sooner fan. With that said, we need to win this game and we will... God is on our side people... God is on our side... ;)
