If Michigan beats Ohio State, the B1G is getting two in BCS

given this weekend's chaos, I am more convinced now than last week. The two up scenario is going to come into play if the Wolverines can close it out.

I agree.

Up to tonights games (OK and Oregon) I was pretty adamant that the Big10 was only getting one team. Now that its a hodge-podge of 2 loss teams the Big10 gets two in easily.

If Michigan wins and goes to BCS that puts OSU at 6-6, if we were to beat Nebraska I think that could bumb us above OSU, possibly ahead of Penn state(if wisky beats them) and would that win over nebraska possibly get us in outback bowl discussion Iowa just beating Nebraska both 8-4??? Probably still go with Nebraska, but maybe some discussion.

Jon,

What if MSU loses to Northwestern and then wins the B1G championship? Would the B1G still get 2 into the BCS?

The reason why I ask is I found this quirky BCS qualification on bcsfootball.org and if I am reading it correctly it says a conference has to have 2 teams ranked in the top 14 to get an at large bid.

If fewer than 10 teams are eligible for selection, then the Bowls can select as an at-large team any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible, has won at least nine regular-season games and is among the top 18 teams in the final BCS Standings subject to the two-team limit noted above and also subject to the following: (1) if any conference has two or more teams in the top 14, then two of those teams must be selected and (2) from the teams ranked 15-18, a bowl can select only a team from a conference that has fewer than two teams in the top 14.

BCS selection procedures

So in my scenario it is unlikely MSU would be ranked in the top 14. If this happened I do not think the B1G could get 2 into the BCS. The Pac12, SEC, Big12, and possibly even the Mountain West and ACC could all have 2 teams ranked in the top 14 of the BCS.

Am I wrong?

The streak of the cheaters over Michigan is already over. They vacated their win last year.

They will get annilhilated Saturday. Michigan can't wait to get those creeps into Ann Arbor. It is going to get bloody.

So I guess we cheer for Michigan to help us with a better bowl game?

Also, UM has to be one of the worst 10-2/BCS teams I've ever seen.

Yes I think you are wrong, the way I read it is if the Big Ten only has 1 team ranked in the top 14 then a bowl can select another Big Ten ream ranked between 15 and 18.

If the conference has 2 teams ranked in the top 14 then a bowl can't select a team ranked 15 to 18 and must select the two ranked in the top 14.

Remember that bowl games are about MONEY. Michigan will be in because of tickets and TV.

The proposed BCS plan to do the national championship game only will permanently lock out the Boise State's from the big 4 bowl games.

A win in Lincoln punches a ticket to another New Year's Day bowl. Let's hope the rest plays out the way we need it to. I actually have a good feeling about tomorrow's game.

I believe you are correct. Hopefully that allows us an east coast bowl game - Florida - so we get positive exposure given where we recruit from.
