Kirksey was a liability in pass coverage, as were most of our linebackers. I would just cringe when ISU went 4 or 5 wide and see a lb on them.

I thought Kirksey wasn't half bad at coverage. Better than Troy Johson last year. Doesn't help that Jantz had all day long to throw a pass. Not sure it is all on the LBs

I'd be cautious taking what's said on this board as the definitive truth. Any problems we have in the secondary have been magnified by the dl. According to the majority of the board Greenwood never should have played in our backfield let alone sign as a FA.

We can prognosticate forever but clealy Iowa was out coached plain and simple. Ferentz is great for iowa fball but there is no killer instinct from the Iowa staff. Doesnt matter what we say. iowa Players were clearly disappointed, evidenced by their body language in the 4 th. Not even attempting to run 2 min offense sends wrong message to your team.

I wouldn't say the linebackers were a liability in coverage. Often, they had very good coverage, and Jantz put the ball in the exact spot that it needed to be in order to beat the coverage. Perfect throws will beat great coverage every time.

And Castillo is taking too much heat. He had pretty good coverage on Reynolds on both of his TD grabs. But Reynolds is a big receiver (just like McNutt), and he also got away with a little push-off on one of those receptions. McNutt beat Chekwa of Ohio State on passes like that, and Chekwa was an All-Big Ten caliber receiver. Reynolds was playing at that level on Saturday.

IMO there were three players that stood out above the rest on saturday. You're right though, my title could use work, time to hit up the writer's workshop in the EPB.
