hurt the University of Iow as some ISU fans are stating on their boards. They say, "Iowa fans will find out." Other than ISU moving to another conference and perhaps dropping some sports because their funding will drop, I don't see how that will hurt UofI?
Some kids will not be given scholarships and that would factor in but how does that affect U of I?
Perhaps ISU's grants may drop? Again, that does not affect Iowa. Iowa may benefit by having even a better walk-on program than it does now. Women who might have gone to ISU, might go to Iowa strengthening Iowa's programs. Students might go to Iowa instead of ISU (for duplicate programs). Heck, maybe even Iowa can pick up academics that ISU has if ISU is starting to drop, thus increasing Iowa's status. If ISU begins to falter, there is no reason that Iowa cannot pick up the pieces and offer those courses is there? Now this is in the event that ISU moves to the MAC or some such. Perhaps Iowa can pick up ISU's engineering department for instance.
So I don't understand what the big deal is. IF ISU begins to lose their status and funding, it isn't like Iowa can't pick up the pieces and become an even better and bigger university.
