If Iowa played in the B12...

Would we finish 2nd or 3rd? We're probably not as good as Kansas but the rest of that conference is garbage. If we can go .500 in the B10 that's the equivalent of at least .800 in the B12.

Hell yes Iowa would finish 2nd or 3rd in the Big 12.

Northwestern who will finish probably 7th or 8th beat Baylor who will finish 2nd or 3rd and Iowa who will finish 7th or 8th just beat the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Big 12.

As much crap as they gave for the Big Ten being so down in football they better be able to take it because Big 12 basketball is a joke this year.

But if we did, would we go 14-4, or better?

Man, this is a stupid thread and you, hawkfan33, are responsible for starting it and adding to the stupidity exponentially with your second post on the thread.

You can say all you want about beating ISU. But the B12 also has West Virginia and KSU, along with Texas and Baylor. Based upon track record and this season, how can anyone legitimately claim right now that we are better than those teams/programs, considering we couldn't beat Va. Tech or Wichita State (on a neutral site)?

Who knows, maybe we could be third (but second) in the B12. But I personally think we might end up fourth in the B10 this year, so I don't know how much that says about the B12 if we are one spot better. I guess if you think we are the seventh best team in the B10 and you think we are third in the B12 then that says that you don't think we are that good, really.

Texas lost to chaminade man, they are ******* terrible. Baylor got beat at home by northwestern , the whole B12 is one big dumpster fire.

Kansas is the only legitimate top 25 team, and they’ve looked like a dog crap team at times already. KSU and Baylor will be the only other teams that sniff a ranking.

Texas is actually really bad. Like slightly better than Penn State bad.

To put it in perspective, ESPN ranked ISU as the 2nd best team in their power rankings yesterday.

While this is kinda stupid topic. But it helps people understand how down the typically talented basketball conference B12 is. Seeing WVU under perform so far this season got my attention but I was sorta ignorant to the overall conference struggles. Yet Okie State still is solid and if they still had Mizzou they'd look a lot better.

Dude....this thread is pure satire. He/they are mocking clown fans for when they do this every year in football. They tout the power of the B12 even though they do nothing to contribute to it and say that they would challenge for a B10 title. Check your sarcasm meter brother.

We would be assured a trip to the Dance this year. As it is we need to be happy if we can get back to the NIT. Need to beat Drake and UNI now and need to win enough home games to get to any post season play.

Pretty sure we don't play drake...

Im confident when i say we have a 0% chance of beating Drake this year.

Texas is horrible.
Baylor is not good (just lost to NW at home for God sakes.
West Virginia is ok. Same with KSU. Nothing special, though.
Kansas is far and away the best team in the Big 12 They have already lost to Mich St. on a Neutral court. MSU is a middle of the pack team in the BIG this year. Kansas might not lose a game in their own conference but would probably have 5 or 6 losses in the BIG.

The Big 12 is 0-5 against the BIG so far this season. The BIG is far tougher than the Big 12 this season. Iowa would have a much easier time getting to the NCAA tourney in the Big 12 this year. The original poster's assertion was correct and not "stupid" as you say.

The original post is stupid because we wouldn't finish second in the B12 and also because it assumes we are better than all of the teams I mentioned, even though if you look at our recent history and theirs we should not be considered even equals to any of them.

Yes, if we were in the B12 our NCAA path would be easier. I didn't say that conference was better than ours. But to, in one fall swoop, assume that we are better than all of the teams I mentioned, when as of yet we haven't beaten one quality team aside from ISU at home is quite a stretch.

Can you honestly call us, based on some tangible proof, a better team this year or program than Baylor, West Virginia or KSU? All three of those have been to the Elite 8 or Final 4 very recently and would have to get the nod over Iowa right now. Texas is down this year so far, but they are an overall proven quality program. I just think that you have to be a Big Ten homer to say we would be second in the B12 this year, based solely on the fact that we just beat ISU in IC.

And I say this while being as big of a B10 fan as anyone, but I do live in KC and I see the B12 on a very regular basis.
