If Iowa had...

I'm over my IAstate friends telling me "Iowa State has the hardest schedule in the nation, and if Iowa had it they would not make it to a bowl ether."

1) No one is denying that they have the hardest schedule.
2) Why are you already making excuses for not making it to a bowl game before playing the first snap of the year?
3) I don't care how Iowa would do because it's NOT their schedule!
4) The daily grind of the big ten season is not a walk in the park.

Last point) We will never know how Iowa would do, because they don't play that schedule. I would like to think that Iowa fans would not make excuses before the season starts. And if we were playing the what if scenario I would think Iowa could pull out 7 wins in that schedule. I am sick of hearing IAstate fans say they could not win 7 games, no way.

Here they are as I see it 7 Wins, and I don't think these are homer picks.
UNI
replace iowa with Iowa state
connecticut
balyor
missouri
kansas
kansas state

Iowa could at least win two of the other 5 games

Probably pretty fair guess on your part. I don't think you beat Missouri on the road but I'd guess Iowa would have a fair shot at winning a home game against either OSU, Texas or A&M. Iowa would be dogs but they would be winnable games for sure.

I also think you could beat TT on the road

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

The world may never know.

Just ask him how many points their offense has scored on our First Team Defense the last couple of years.... I think that is good evidence that we will do better than them..

As I see it, Iowa would win most of those games; the clowns won't. THAT is the difference between the programs. The clowns like to put on a "poor me" look but the fact is they just don't have a very good football team or program.

Iowa would be favored in every one of those games and when they play Oklahoma and Texas, those games would be a tossup. The clowns on the other hand will be not favored in ANY of those games other than UNI and Texas and Oklahoma will use the clowns as a warmup for a game the next week.

Another point, I don't see that schedule as being that difficult other than Texas and Oklahoma and Texas Tech and Okie St. The other teams are the poor of the Big 12. Like I said, Iowa would be favored in almost all of games that the clowns play.

The clowns are never favored so the fans have no idea what it is like to be favored. Thus, a very hard schedule...yes it is, for them.

And IF the clowns were in the Big 10, they would not be favored in any of the games they play and in all likelihood would finish in the basement, just like in the big 12. If they had Iowa's schedule they would be favored to beat Tenn Tech, and La. Monroe. ALL other games they would be the underdog and in many games get their heads handed to them.

Who would they beat? Michigan, MSU, NW, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota (maybe that game would be close) Purdue and Penn ST? There is one game that might be close and that might be Minnesota game. But remember Minnesota will be the doormat this year, so the clowns would be fighting it out for last place.

I doubt they would be underdogs at Kinnick, unless Iowa is struggling and the other team is in the top 5 or 10. Even in 2008 when 6-4 Iowa beat Penn St (who was I believe 10-0 and rated #3) they were only 5 or 6 point underdogs.

Plus, the HUGE difference between Iowa and the clowns is that Iowa is ALWAYS in the game regardless of who they play, which means that they can and do win many of those games, unlike the clowns which who are rarely every game and often are HUGE dogs to the better teams.

Just the difference between the programs-- Iowa has established itself as one of the better teams in the country and perennially does well. The clowns on the other hand still have one of the worst programs in college football history and that is not changing anytime soon. They ARE the Big 12's perennial doormat and have been for many many many years.

Your schedule always looks tough when you're not very good.
Statistically, the best way to look at it is to compare them to Oklahoma St.
Granted, they have ISU at home, but it won't make a difference in the end.

Oklahoma is playing the preseason 6th ranked team in non-conference play on the road.
Other than that, they play the same teams in the conference. They're not whining about the difficulty of their schedule.

When you're crap, of course your schedule is tough.

I wish IAstate fans had more faith. I think that they can win at least 6 games this year. I would be surprised if they did not make a bowl this year.
