I feel bad for the d. Yes, they have a great offense. And I get not putting a spy on miller because he's that good. But why not try something else? I get not wanting to give up a big play, but at some point you see that we haven't stopped them at all.
I digress because we all know nothing was going to change to make sure that they had to grind it out.
Serious question, but what is/was Iowa supposed to try? When the other team is faster than you at most every position, oh and by the way your front 7 can't do much against their very good o-line, you are basically cooked. Iowa needed OSU to make mistakes (penalties, put the ball on the ground, etc.) to stop them.
We did try crowding the line of scrimmage and OSU promptly threw over Iowa's head for a long TD. Would have seen more of the same had Iowa kept doing that. A few times in the second half Iowa forced OSU into 3rd and long situations, covered the routes, but Miller runs around, eludes people and gets a first down. Back breakers. Commit more people to spying Miller, then a receiver is open. Play coverage and rush with 4, he runs around and makes a play. When your guys just aren't as good as the guys on the other team, if the other team plays well/without mistakes, then they win.
Will be interesting to see where Iowa goes from here.
